Education with a regular hydration opportunity
The intervention consists of a total of 4 educational sessions. At the first educational session, the topics that will be covered will be the prevalence of dehydration in older adults and the biological reasons why dehydration affects older adults more than younger adults. Subsequent sessions will cover the following topics: the signs and symptoms of dehydration are and how to look for them within yourself and others, benefits of water, different drinks, why water is the most hydrating drink, the recommended amount of water to consume, how to calculate the water intake based on your weight, helpful tips and tricks that can be used to increase water intake. In addition to the educational sessions, there will be weekly hydration happy hours held at Cornwall Manor. The hydration happy hour will include a recipe book for different hydrating drink mixtures, and flavor combinations, and cups of different hydrating drinks for the participants to try.
