Inclusion Criteria: Patients ligible for this study must be 18 years or older, admitted to the ICU with an expected length of stay of at least 48 hours, not mechanically ventilated, and able to take oral medications. They must also be hemodynamically stable as determined by the treating ICU physician and able to provide informed consent or have consent provided by a legally authorized representative. All participants, including Non-English speaking participants, should undergo written consent via a translated version that had been approved (via modification application) by the IRB. Exclusion Criteria Patients will be excluded if they are mechanically ventilated, currently using melatonin prior to ICU admission, or have neurological conditions that may significantly alter sleep architecture, such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, or severe dementia. Additionally, pregnant or lactating individuals and those with a comfort measures-only status will be excluded.
