Summary
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of contraceptive method counseling offered to primiparous women between the ages of 18-45 in the postpartum period by motivational interviewing method based on the Transtheoretic model, on the use of contraceptive methods.

Effect of Transtheoretical Model-Based Counseling on Postpartum Contraceptive Uptake
The study included women aged 18-45 who had given birth for the first time (primiparous), were within 72 hours of delivery and at the stage of discharge, and were considering using a contraceptive method in the future. A total of 80 women meeting the sampling criteria were randomly assigned to either the intervention group (n=30) or the control group (n=50). Data collection forms were completed through face-to-face interviews. While the intervention group received contraceptive counseling based on the Transtheoretical Model, the control group received routine postpartum care services at the clinic. Contraceptive method usage was assessed via telephone at the 6- and 12-month marks for both groups, and at the end of the 12-month period, the "Contraceptive Methods Knowledge Test" (KYIBT) was administered to measure knowledge regarding contraceptive methods.
