View on ClinicalTrials.gov

Summary

This randomized controlled trial evaluated the effects of a Health Belief Model-based telenursing intervention on self-efficacy, quality of life, blood pressure, body mass index, and health behaviors in individuals with hypertension. A total of 78 participants were randomly assigned to the intervention group (n=39) or control group (n=39). Participants in the intervention group received a 12-week telenursing intervention based on the Health Belief Model, including face-to-face education, training on home blood pressure monitoring, educational materials, weekly text messages, and telephone follow-up at weeks 2, 4, 8, and 12. The control group received usual care. Outcomes were assessed at baseline, 3 months, and 6 months.

Health Belief Model-Based Telenursing Intervention

The intervention consisted of Health Belief Model-based education and a 12-week telenursing follow-up program. Participants received four telephone follow-up calls at weeks 2, 4, 8, and 12, each lasting approximately 10-15 minutes. Weekly text messages were sent for 12 weeks to remind participants about blood pressure monitoring and to provide information about hypertension management. Participants could also contact the researcher when they needed additional support.
