MEMRI: Memory Emergence Using MRI
Sponsor: Paediatric Neuroimaging Research Group
Summary
Episodic memory is our ability to remember personal experiences, such as a birthday party or a visit to the park. This study aims to understand how this type of memory develops during the first two years of a baby's life. Researchers will use a safe, non-invasive brain scanning technique called magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to study healthy babies from birth until they are two years old. By following the same children over time, researchers will see how the brain's memory system develops and how it becomes connected with other parts of the brain. The findings will help us understand how babies develop the ability to remember personal experiences. They will also provide new knowledge about how the human brain develops during the earliest stages of life.
