Acceptance and Commitment Therapy-Based Anger Management Training in Forensic Psychiatry Patients
Sponsor: Hatice Polat
Summary
The goal of this interventional study is to determine the effect of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)-based anger management training on the aggression levels of forensic psychiatry patients. The main hypotheses are: H0: ACT-based anger management training does not affect the aggression levels of forensic psychiatry patients. H1: ACT-based anger management training reduces the aggression levels of forensic psychiatry patients. In the study, the researchers implemented an 8-session Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Anger Group protocol for the experimental group. The ACT training sessions were conducted once a week for a total of eight sessions. This program was applied only to the patients in the experimental group. Both the experimental and control group patients answered the questions in the Personal Information Form, which included the patients' demographic information, and the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire before and after the ACT training. ACT-based anger management training was an effective method in reducing the aggression levels of forensic psychiatry patients.
