Effects of Different Exercise Intensities on Lac-Phe Levels in Women With Obesity
Sponsor: Istanbul Gelisim University
Summary
This study will investigate how different exercise intensities affect blood levels of lactoyl-phenylalanine (Lac-Phe), a metabolite that may be involved in the regulation of appetite and energy balance, in women with obesity. Participants aged 30 to 50 years with a body mass index (BMI) of 30-34.9 kg/m² will be assigned to one of three groups: high-intensity interval training (HIIT), moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT), or a control group. The exercise programs will be performed for 12 weeks. EtikBasvuruFormu DUYGU Blood samples and clinical measurements will be collected before and after the study period. The study will evaluate changes in Lac-Phe and related biochemical markers, including lactate, phenylalanine, and CNDP2, together with selected metabolic, body composition, physical activity, and appetite-related measures. The main aim is to determine whether exercise intensity influences Lac-Phe responses and whether these changes are associated with metabolic and appetite-related outcomes in women with obesity.

High-Intensity Interval Training
A 12-week supervised interval walking program performed three times per week. Participants perform repeated 1-minute bouts of fast walking at 80-90% of maximal heart rate followed by 1-minute recovery walking periods at approximately 50% of maximal heart rate, repeated for 12 cycles. Heart rate and rating of perceived exertion are monitored throughout the sessions.
Moderate-Intensity Continuous Training
A 12-week supervised continuous walking program performed three times per week. Participants exercise continuously for approximately 40 minutes at 65-70% of maximal heart rate. Heart rate and rating of perceived exertion are monitored during each session.
