PENG, Suprainguinal Fascia Iliaca Block, and Control After Total Hip Arthroplasty
Sponsor: Uludag University
Summary
Total hip arthroplasty can cause significant pain after surgery. Regional anesthesia techniques, such as the pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block and the suprainguinal fascia iliaca plane block, may help reduce postoperative pain and opioid requirements. However, these techniques may also affect muscle strength and early mobilization. This randomized, controlled, prospective study compares the effects of PENG block, suprainguinal fascia iliaca plane block, and no regional block in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty. Postoperative pain, opioid consumption, quadriceps muscle strength, and hip flexion are evaluated to compare the analgesic effectiveness and motor effects of these approaches.
Official title: Comparison of the Effects of PENG and Fascia Iliaca Plane Blocks on Postoperative Analgesia and Muscle Strength in Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Randomized, Controlled, Prospective Study
