NCT04352244
The Physiology of Human Brown Adipose Tissue
Brown fat is a type of fat, found in both children and adults, which can produce heat and regulate the body's metabolism and energy use. White fat is the more common type of fat which is used to store extra calories. Understanding more about differences between brown and white fat may allow us to develop new approaches to improve the body's metabolism.

NCT03541096
Winter-Swimming and Brown Adipose Tissue Activity in Middel-aged Obese Subjects (WinterBAT).
This study investigates repetitive cold-water exposure on brown fat activity assessed by PET/CT scanning. Furthermore we will assess glucose control upon winter-swimming. Obese prediabetic men and women will be randomized to winter-swimming or control conditions for 4 months.
