Alveolar Ridge Reconstruction in Post-extraction Sites Using a Magnesium Resorbable Membrane. An Explorative Study

When a tooth is removed, the surrounding bone and gum tissue naturally shrink over time. This shrinkage can make it harder to place a dental implant later and may affect the appearance of the smile. To reduce bone loss after extraction, surgeons can fill the socket with a bone substitute material and cover it with a protective membrane. This study tests a new type of membrane made from magnesium metal (NOVAMag®). Unlike standard resorbable membranes, the magnesium membrane is rigid enough to hold its shape and protect the bone graft even in severely damaged sockets - similar to non-resorbable membranes. Unlike non-resorbable membranes, however, it dissolves on its own within about 16 weeks, so no second surgery is needed to remove it. As it breaks down, it releases magnesium ions that may also help stimulate new bone formation. This study will enroll 10 adult patients who need a tooth removed and plan to have a dental implant placed afterward. After extraction, the socket will be filled with a bovine bone substitute, covered with the magnesium membrane, and sealed with a collagen membrane on top. Patients will be followed for up to 19 months. At 6 months, a CT scan will be used to measure how much bone has been preserved. At the time of implant placement, a small bone sample will be analyzed in the laboratory to assess new bone formation. Patients will also complete questionnaires about pain and quality of life, and the healing of the surgical site will be monitored at each visit. The goal is to find out whether this magnesium membrane can effectively preserve bone after tooth extraction, reduce the need for additional bone grafting before implant placement, and offer a less invasive option for patients.

Vallomix Socket Preservation Study

This research aims to compare the effectiveness of two bone grafting materials on preserving jawbone integrity after tooth extraction. Following extraction, the jawbone surrounding the removed tooth can shrink, affecting future implant placement. By placing a bone graft material in the extraction socket, we aim to maintain adequate jawbone space for future implants. This study compares how well the mixture of vallos®f (human source bone) and Bio-Oss (animal source bone) \[test\], and vallos® only \[control\] grafting materials work. Participants with at least one tooth planned for extraction and subsequent implant placement are sought for this study. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the mixture of vallos®f and Bio-Oss (test) group or the vallos® only (control) group. Throughout the approximately 2-year study duration, participants will undergo oral exams, x-rays, surgical procedures, and follow-up visits. All participants will undergo routine tooth extraction, bone graft material placement, and dental implant placement. After the crown is placed on the implant, participants will attend follow-up visits. Participation in the study is voluntary, and the alternative is to continue routine dental care. Risks include minor discomfort from procedures such as tooth extraction and implant placement. The major benefit of participation in the study is the preservation of jaw dimensions following extraction, which will simplify the placement of a dental implant.

Comparative Analysis of 2 Bone Graft Materials in Socket Preservation

Socket preservation procedures after tooth extraction have been designed and implemented to maintain the volume of the bone and gingival tissues, which can decrease following the extraction of the teeth. In this clinical trial we will compare clinically and histologically the effectiveness of two distinct bovine bone graft materials; an allograft and a xenograft, in alveolar ridge preservation procedures following tooth extraction .

Antibiotic Prophylaxis Versus Placebo in Alveolar Bone Grafting: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Tooth extraction sites often require alveolar bone grafting to preserve ridge dimensions and improve conditions for future implant placement. Although systemic antibiotic prophylaxis is commonly prescribed after grafting procedures, there is limited evidence supporting its necessity in healthy patients undergoing intraoral bone grafting. This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial aims to compare the effects of prophylactic amoxicillin versus placebo on postoperative outcomes in alveolar bone graft procedures using Plenum® Oss HP biomaterial, a synthetic biphasic bioceramic composed of hydroxyapatite and beta-tricalcium phosphate (HA/β-TCP; 70:30 ratio). Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either amoxicillin 500 mg every 8 hours for 7 days or a matching placebo. Clinical parameters, postoperative complications, and patient-reported outcomes will be assessed. The study seeks to determine whether antibiotic prophylaxis provides measurable clinical benefits or whether placebo yields comparable results, contributing to more rational antibiotic use and supporting antimicrobial stewardship in oral surgery.

PeptiCol EZgraft in the Extraction Socket Preservation Process After Tooth Extraction

This clinical trial aims to compare the efficacy and safety of applying "PeptiCol EZgraft" in extraction socket preservation procedures against "Regenomer," in terms of reducing the amount of alveolar bone change during the healing process following tooth extraction.
