Two Different Therapeutic Interventions Applied During Blood Sampling in Children

This research is a three-group, randomized controlled experimental study designed to determine the effect of two different therapeutic interventions applied during blood sampling on pain, anxiety, and fear levels in children aged 5-7 years. Children participating in the study will be randomly divided into three groups: 1. Group (Experiment 1): Distraction method using betta fish observation 2. Group (Experiment 2): Distraction method using hand puppets 3. Group (Control): Routine clinical practice (without any therapeutic intervention) Before, during, and after blood sampling, children's pain level (FLACC scale), fear level (child fear scale), and anxiety level (child anxiety scale) will be evaluated.

The Effect of ShotBlocker and Finger Puppet on Pain and Fear During Blood Drawing in Children

Blood sampling can cause pain, anxiety, and fear in children. Such negative experiences may cause the child to develop negative attitudes toward treatment and care procedures. Distraction techniques, which are among non-pharmacological methods, are used to reduce pain, fear, and anxiety by diverting attention away from pain and directing it toward another interesting stimulus. ShotBlocker and finger puppets are one of these techniques. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of ShotBlocker and finger puppets in reducing pain and fear in children aged 5-10 years during blood sampling in the pediatric blood sampling unit.

Analysis of Inflammatory Biomarker Changes in Dry Blood Spot Versus Venous Blood Samples

The purpose of this study is to see whether dried blood spot (DBS) samples can measure inflammatory biomarkers as accurately as venous blood samples. Investigators will be measuring inflammatory biomarkers changes obtained in DBS compared with paired venous blood samples following a controlled physiological stressor (i.e. after a vaccine or other planned event that can cause a temporary rise in inflammation). These findings will help understand whether DBS can be a reliable alternative to traditional blood draws in future research and healthcare.
