Getting to Yes, Michigan! (G2YMI)

This study entitled Community-Centered Interventions for Improved Vaccine Uptake for COVID-19 (CIVIC): Getting to Yes, Michigan!, is designed to increase vaccine uptake among populations that experience COVID-19 related disparities. The investigators will focus on the four counties within Michigan where a disproportionate burden of COVID-19 is within African Americans and Latinx communities, i.e., Wayne, Genesee, Kent and Washtenaw Counties. Using a community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach, CIVIC will leverage: its long term relationships with the communities involved, an established CBPR Steering Committee developed and the knowledge gained as a Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) grant recipient, the resources and networks of the University of Michigan CTSA (MICHR), and the expertise of our academic partners to identify and understand factors that contribute to COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in African Americans and Latinx communities in Michigan. The investigators will develop and test interventions based on community-centered approaches to achieve a primary goal of increased vaccine uptake. The investigators will achieve this goal with the following aims: 1. Increase understanding of the barriers and drivers of vaccine uptake and hesitancy; 2. Increase vaccine uptake and decrease vaccine hesitancy through the implementation and evaluation of a multi-component intervention; and maintain, enhance, and evaluate the effectiveness of the CIVIC partnership to equitably engage all partners.

Long COVID and Its Associations With Health Outcomes in Older Adults

The Peking University Health Cohort in Anning, Yunnan (PKUHC-AN) is a prospective cohort study carried out in Anning, Yunnan. The primary aim of this study is to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on older adults' health, and to provide high-quality evidence of real world research for the optimization of prevention and control strategies of COVID-19 and other emerging infectious diseases. Data will be collected regarding health status, history of COVID-19 infections and vaccines, lifestyle and socioeconomic characteristics, as well as the short- and long-term health outcomes.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Predict Clinical Outcomes in Patients Hospitalized for COVID19 Pneumonia During the 4 Pandemic Waves

Predictive models can be applied in different areas, during the emergency of the COVID-19 pandemic, in fact, they have proven important in supporting health systems in planning strategic decisions and in formulating health policies for the containment of the disease. The Covid-19 pandemic, in particular, has represented a real challenge for our healthcare system. In Italy, it was divided into four main waves, each characterized by different types of patients and different therapeutic approaches progressively improved based on new scientific evidence. The objective is to carry out a study on the data of patients hospitalized for COVID-19 at the ASST of Lecco during all four pandemic waves, with different degrees of severity of illness, collecting the data of interest and applying it to they use artificial intelligence to identify recurring patterns of clinical outcome in terms of survival and secondary infectious complications, so as to build new reliable predictive statistical models that can be used to predict the outcome of the patients themselves. The strong ambition of this project is that the application of artificial intelligence to data of such significant quantity can allow us to build valid statistical models which can then be hypothetically applied to any patient to predict, based on anamnestic characteristics, blood chemical parameters. at baseline and at the set treatment, the probability of survival and complications

Neural and Cognitive Consequences of COVID-19 Survival

The novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 infection, COVID, continues to rage throughout the world with 115,000,000 confirmed cases and over 2,500,000 deaths (as of Mar 3, 2021). This translates to millions of people surviving COVID19 infection. While the lungs are ground zero, COVID tears through organ systems from brain to blood vessels. We are now beginning to see people recover but complain of ongoing problems, including lingering cognitive problems, depression, and anxiety. We have brought together 2 laboratories with complementary techniques including psychological testing and neuroimaging methods togethers with markers in the blood that may signal damage in the brain. A close look at these problems is timely and imperative if we are to understand the pathophysiology of 'COVID brain' and prepare for downstream problems.

Study on the Effect of Incentive Spirometer-based Respiratory Training on the Long COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has emerged as the most significant public health crisis of the 21st century. As of the end of January 2023, global confirmed cases have exceeded 670 million, with a domestic cumulative total of 10.24 million cases, including occurrences of reinfection. Beyond acute symptoms following infection, patients and society face the challenge of long-term complications associated with COVID-19. Termed 'Post COVID-19 condition' or 'Long COVID' by the World Health Organization (WHO), this encompasses symptoms appearing within three months of the initial infection. Symptoms of Long COVID reveal chronic damage inflicted by the virus on multiple organ systems, including fatigue, cognitive impairment, chest tightness, palpitations, difficulty breathing, and depression. Despite continuous efforts by healthcare professionals to find suitable treatments, no medication has been confirmed to effectively prevent or reduce post-COVID-19 sequelae. These health issues impose significant burdens and disturbances on patients' quality of life, economies, and societies.
