Calciphylaxis in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease - A Study of the Danish Calciphylaxis Research Initiative (DanCaRI)

Calciphylaxis is a rare yet life-threatening condition involving pronounced calcification in small blood vessels of the skin. Knowledge about its underlying mechanisms and contributing risk factors remains limited. Chronic kidney disease is one of the strongest disease predictors. No evidence based effective therapy is currently available. Research on the topic is mainly hindered by the condition's rarity. The study Calciphylaxis in patients with chronic kidney disease - A study of the Danish Calciphylaxis Research Initiative (DanCaRI) is set up to facilitate the systematic retrospective and prospective comparison of patients with chronic kidney disease and calciphylaxis to matched patients with chronic kidney disease who did not develop calciphylaxis thereby providing new knowledge that can support prevention, early detection, and new treatment approaches.

Outcomes From Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO2) Treatment for Emerging Indications

This study will evaluate the effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) on treating emerging indications (i.e., conditions that have shown to potentially benefit from HBOT) using the Multicenter Registry for Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment. The study team aims to collect ongoing data on how well HBOT treats these emerging indications, and to add these data to the growing HBO Registry. The research team hypothesizes that HBOT will result in improvements of the condition of the various emerging indications.

A Real-World Registry of Chronic Wounds and Ulcers

WOUNDJOURNEY is a longitudinal, real-world, observational registry designed to capture the full clinical course and patient journey associated with chronic wounds and ulcers. Data are collected during routine care from over 1,400 clinicians across the USA and Puerto Rico using a highly structured certified electronic health record (EHR) or electronic data capture (EDC) system. Data are transmitted daily to the U.S. Wound Registry (USWR), a CMS-recognized Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR). The registry captures real-time, research-ready data on patient demographics, comorbidities, wound characteristics, standard-of-care treatments, complications, and advanced therapeutics. It supports robust, fit-for-purpose real-world evidence generation by enabling risk-adjusted outcome analysis, comparative effectiveness research, and quality improvement across diverse sites of care.

Partners Calciphylaxis Biobank

Calciphylaxis, a vascular calcification disorder, is a rare and serious disorder characterized by calcification of dermal arterioles. There are significant gaps in the understanding of the pathophysiology and risk factors for calciphylaxis. At present, there is no effective treatment. Uncertain pathobiology, rare incidence and lack of collaborative approach have been some of the major limiting factors towards treating calciphylaxis. The Partners Calciphylaxis Biorepository (PCB) aims to address these gaps within calciphylaxis research by utilizing existing and, when necessary, developing new infrastructure to support the consent of patients and the collection of dedicated samples for a calciphylaxis repository.

National Registry of Rare Kidney Diseases

The goal of this National Registry is to is to collect information from patients with rare kidney diseases, so that it that can be used for research. The purpose of this research is to: * Develop Clinical Guidelines for specific rare kidney diseases. These are written recommendations on how to diagnose and treat a medical condition. * Audit treatments and outcomes. An audit makes checks to see if what should be done is being done and asks if it could be done better. * Further the development of future treatments. Participants will be invited to participate on clinical trials and other studies. The registry has the capacity to feedback relevant information to patients and in conjunction with Patient Knows Best (Home - Patients Know Best), allows patients to provide information themselves, including their own reported quality of life and outcome measures.
