The Beat Pain Better Trial

The Beat Pain Better study examines strategies to increase the reach of evidence-based interventions for persons with osteoarthritis (OA) in communities that experience disparities. The study is a hybrid type 3 effectiveness-imple-mentation trial using sequential, multiple assignment, ran¬domi¬zation to evaluate 1) two text mes¬saging strat¬egies to reach persons with OA and enroll them in physical activity counseling provided by physical therapists; and 2) two strat¬egies to engage enrolled persons in the Walk with Ease (WWE) intervention for sustained self-management.

Exploring Neurosphere's Remote Monitoring and Virtual Clinic Features in Improve Quality of Life and Reduce Costs

This study evaluates the effectiveness of Abbott's Proclaim™ and Eterna™ Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) systems, along with the Neurosphere™ virtual clinic platform, in managing chronic pain. The goal is to assess how remote monitoring and virtual care can improve pain relief and reduce healthcare costs compared to traditional in-person care. Adults with chronic pain will either receive treatment through in-person visits or remotely using Neurosphere™. The study will measure pain relief, quality of life, and healthcare expenses over six months, aiming to improve access to pain management, especially for patients in rural areas.

Evaluating the Auricular Point Acupressure-Self Management Program for Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain Among Rural Populations

The investigators will test an Auricular Point Acupressure Self-Management (APA-SM) program integrated into rural primary and specialty care and rural communities for chronic musculoskeletal pain (CMP). To maximize self-management of pain, the investigators developed a smartphone app which will allow the participants to learn to self-administer APA. The investigators will have 3 arms (APA-SM self-guided with remote training, APA-SM with in-person training, and Education Control) with 231 participants per arm (total=693 for 3 arms). The investigators will evaluate the clinical effectiveness of our 4-week APA-SM intervention compared to control in primary outcomes (pain intensity, pain interference, activity), secondary outcomes (HEAL Clinical Pain Core common data elements), and analgesic use up to 6 months follow-up.

Improved Treatment for Patients With Long-term Opioid Therapy for Non-cancer Pain in Primary Care

The goal of this clinical trial is to reduce inappropriate long term opioid treatment (LTOT) and to optimize pain management in patients with LTOT for chronic non-cancer pain in primary care through a new person-centred and team-based approach. The main question it aims to answer is: What are the effects of a new person-centred and team-based approach on pain interference in patients with LTOT for chronic non-cancer pain in primary care? Researchers will compare a new person-centred and team-based approach to usual care to see if pain interference is lower. Participants will receive a person-centred team-based treatment consisting of: * Phase 1 (investigation and assessment, week 1-3): A medication review, pain analysis and other assessments through separate visits to a pharmacist, general practitioner, physiotherapist, psychologist and care manager * Phase 2 (treatment plan, week 3-4): A team consultations with all healthcare personnel involved in Phase 1 including the patient where an individualized rehabilitation plan is made based. * Phase 3 (treatment and follow-up, week 4-24): Implementation of the individualized rehabilitation plan with frequent follow-up contacts (1 per 1-3 weeks) by phone with the care manager.
