Modulation of the Brain Fog Scale by Eicosapentaenoic Acid Monoglycerides (MAG-EPA).

A growing body of studies shows that omega-3s act directly in molecular signaling pathways that reduce inflammation and are thought to have a positive effect on cognitive health. Brain fog is a term that has been popularized in the medical world in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. A significant proportion of patients with long COVID reported having cognitive sequelae that were like fogginess. It is defined as a cognitive impairment with characteristic symptoms including problems with concentration, attention and memory, confusion, difficulty understanding what others are saying, reduced mental acuity and mental fatigue. These are episodes of reduced cognitive capacity that are not representative of the person's normal state. This condition can be caused by various factors such as stress, lack of sleep, overwork, depression, hormonal changes due to pregnancy or menopause in women, head injuries, migraine, certain diseases or viral infections, certain medications as well as substance abuse (alcohol and/or street drugs). In this study, we want to test whether omega-3 monoglycerides (MAG-EPA) can modulate the cognitive health of people with brain fog.

Healthspan Connect Programme of Research

Healthspan Connect is a new research programme designed to understand what helps people stay healthy as they age. The programme will explore how lifestyle, environment, genetics, and social factors influence healthy ageing and overall wellbeing. The programme will recruit participants aged 12 years and older across the UK. By including adolescents, the programme aims to understand how early life behaviours and experiences shape long-term health. There is no upper age limit, and people from all backgrounds are encouraged to participate. Special pathways ensure that young participants provide consent in an age-appropriate way. Healthspan Connect is a digital and home-based study, meaning participants can take part from home using smartphones, computers, and online surveys. Participants may also be asked to collect samples such as blood, saliva, stool, urine, or other biological specimens at home using easy-to-use kits. In some sub-studies, participants may be invited to attend research visits for additional tests, scans, or clinical assessments. Family members and close contacts may also be invited to participate in some studies. Through Healthspan Connect, researchers aim to: * Identify the biological, environmental, and social factors that help people live longer, healthier lives. * Understand how different groups, including those historically underrepresented in research, experience ageing. * Explore ways to support behaviour changes that improve health over the lifespan. * Provide near real-time information to inform health policies and interventions. Participants may also be asked for permission to link their information with health records, education records, and environmental data to better understand health outcomes over time. This programme will serve as a flexible platform for multiple sub-studies, allowing participants to contribute to a wide range of research questions related to healthy ageing, resilience, and long-term health. All data and biological samples will be stored securely and used to advance scientific knowledge, with participant privacy carefully protected.

A Clinical Study to Assess the Effect of Tisina Complex on Cognitive Health in Individuals With Mild Cognitive Impairment

The present study is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, parallel-group clinical study designed to assess the effects of IP in individuals with mild cognitive impairment and Tinnitus as compared to a placebo. Approximately 112 individuals aged between 30 and 75years will be screened. Considering a screen failure of 25%, approximately 84 individuals will be randomized in a ratio of 1:1 to receive either the active or placebo. The study will have at least 64 completed participants i.e. 32 participants in each study arm after accounting for adropout/withdrawal rate of 25% at the end of the study. The intervention and follow up duration for all the study participants will be 90 days.

Acute Cognitive Effects of Brain Edge

A double-blind placebo-controlled crossover study exploring the cognitive effects of Brain Edge; a supplement consisting of a blend of herbs and amino acids. 50 healthy adult subjects will be evaluated over 3 sessions. Evaluation of cognitive performance will be determined by computer-based software, surveys, and VR headset experiences.

The REMINDER4Care Program for Older Adults Supported by Residential and Daycare Facilities

Dementia incidence is rising, posing a public health challenge, but 45% of cases can be prevented by addressing modifiable risk factors. Multidomain trials show that lifestyle changes can improve cognitive function and reduce dementia risk (like the FINGER trial). The REMINDER program, a Portuguese-based dementia risk reduction protocol, was developed for community-dwelling older adults aged 55 and above. However, older adults in Residential and Daycare Facilities (RDF) have distinct needs that demand program adaptation to ensure its relevance and effectiveness. In addition, more studies are needed to evaluate the impact of multidomain interventions with older adults in RDF. To address these challenges, the REMINDER4Care program was developed as a tailored, multidomain intervention to reduce dementia risk. It emphasizes social and cognitive engagement and advances its adaptation and evaluation in Residential and Daycare Facilities (RDF). To assess efficacy, the investigators will perform a Randomized Controlled Trial.
