Impact of Topical Aromatherapy on Postoperative Quality of Recovery After Lung Resection
The key to early surgery recovery lies in optimal and immediate control of postoperative pain. Despite standard pain management protocols, lung resection is often associated with acute, neuropathic, or chronic pain, compounded by the side effects of morphine-based treatments. In this context, aromatherapy can provide complementary support, both to alleviate pain and to improve the quality of recovery after surgery.

Partners4Pain & Wellbeing: A Randomized Trial of Community Supported Complementary and Integrative Health Self-management for Back Pain
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn how well two community-based self-management programs work in people with chronic back or neck pain. The main question it aims to answer is: How well does a community-based self-management program teaching mind-body skills such as mindfulness and cognitive behavioral approaches (Partners4Pain) work for reducing pain intensity and interference with general activities and enjoyment of life compared to a community-based self-management program focused on general health and wellbeing (Keys to Wellbeing)? Participants will be asked to do the following: * Attend 2 screening visits to learn about the study and see if they meet the requirements to participate. * Be randomly assigned to one of the two community-based self-management programs. * Attend 9 weekly self-management program sessions (90 minutes each) * Complete surveys about their pain and overall health at 2 months (after the programs end), 4 months, and 6 months. Funding for the project is provided through the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) through the NIH HEAL Initiative (https://heal.nih.gov/), R33AT012309.

Medical Effects of Proximal (In-person) Intercessory (PIP) and Virtual Intercessory Prayer (VIP) on Pain and Anxiety
This study examines whether proximal (in-person) intercessory prayer (PIP) and virtual intercessory prayer (VIP) can reduce pain and anxiety in adults seeking care at a family medicine clinic. Participants who report moderate or higher levels of pain or anxiety will be randomly assigned to receive either brief Christian prayer (in person or virtually) or a control condition of 5 minutes of relaxing music. Prayer sessions last approximately 5 to 15 minutes and are led by trained prayer practitioners. All participants complete surveys about their pain and anxiety levels before and after the session, and again at 2 to 4 weeks and 6 to 8 weeks. The goal is to determine whether prayer leads to greater improvement in pain and anxiety symptoms compared to the control condition, whether effects differ between in-person and virtual prayer, and how participants perceive the experience.

Aromatherapy for Mental Health Promotion in IVF Patients
The experience of infertility can cause significant emotional instability, especially for patients awaiting In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment, generating anxiety, stress, and depressive symptoms. This study is a randomized clinical trial assessing the effectiveness of aromatherapy in improving mental health and quality of life in women undergoing infertility treatment. 120 participants will be randomized into three groups (Intervention, Placebo, and Control). The intervention involves the inhalation of true lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia) for four weeks.

Prevalence of Self-disclosed Knee Trouble and Use of Treatments Among Elderly Individuals
Although knee pain is prevalent among community-dwelling older adults, little is known about how people in general handle their pain. We will conduct a survey to explore how knee pain affects people's lives and which treatments or self-management strategies they have chosen (or are being offered), and how these interact concerning pain reduction and maintenance of function.
