The Impact of Domiciliary Versus 'Hub' Based Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment on Clinical and Process Outcomes Among Older Adults Attending Community Specialist Teams: a Randomised Controlled Trial.

The investigators plan to implement a randomised controlled trial to examine the impact of domiciliary (home based) versus 'hub-based' Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) on clinical and process outcomes among older adults referred to a community specialist team for older persons in the Mid-West region of Ireland. The population of interest is older adults who are discharged directly from the Emergency Department or referred urgently from their General Practitioner. The outcomes of interest focus on those that matter most to older adults as well as clinical and process measures of care.

Prospective Observational Study Based on a Cohort of Geriatric Patients With Hip Fracture Treated in the Centers Belonging to the GIOG Group

The study aims to collect the clinical activity and management data of the Orthogeriatrics and Orthopedics Units participating in the study on a continuous and long-term basis. By collecting clinical data and comparing the performance of the various centers, the study aims to guide the participating centers towards the principles of good clinical practice in orthogeriatrics.

Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment in Chronic Disease Management for Older Adults in China: A Registry Study (CGACDM - Older Adults in China)

With the continuous development of China's economy and the improvement of medical standards, the life expectancy of the Chinese population has significantly increased. Against the backdrop of accelerating aging in China, the incidence of age-related chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and chronic respiratory diseases, has risen remarkably. These diseases are characterized by multiple comorbidities, high disability rates, and high mortality rates, severely compromising the quality of life of older adults, exacerbating family burdens, and straining healthcare systems. This constitutes one of the major challenges faced by aging societies. Therefore, early detection and intervention of chronic diseases in older adults are critical measures to address population aging. Comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA), a core specialty of geriatric medicine, serves as a fundamental framework for the clinical identification of geriatric syndromes and multidisciplinary management. It is emerging as a key pathway to promote "healthy aging." Guided by this premise, this study aims to explore the application value of CGA in managing chronic diseases among older adults, with the goal of achieving full-cycle management for early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic conditions in China's elderly population.

The SaVe Project-Sarcopenia and Vertigo in Aging Patients With Colorectal Cancer

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about the cause of dizziness and decline in walking ability in in older adults ≥65 years during chemotherapy treatment for colorectal cancer. Another goal is to investigate if a comprehensive geriatric assessment and three months' specialized physical group-based exercise three times/week can counteract muscle weakness, vertigo, instability, impaired walking balance, and neuropathy

A Service-Learning Program for Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and Health Promotion in Older Adults

The GEROS Project aims to develop and implement a Service-Learning (S-L) program that integrates Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) and health promotion, for students at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Welfare at the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC). This initiative engages university students, healthcare professionals, and older adults (60+) in a participatory, intergenerational approach that fosters mutual learning and community engagement. The study follows a non-experimental mixed-method design, involving students from Nursing, Physiotherapy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, and Psychology. Participants include older adults (60+) who can independently travel to the university. The project is integrated into different subjects, in groups of 4-5 students, participants conduct a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA), evaluating frailty using VIG-Frail, intrinsic capacity with ICOPE, quality of life with EUROQOL 5D-5L, and specific health indicators with Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC). To assess the program's effectiveness, several outcome measures will be analyzed including students' perceived knowledge, competencies, and skills, as well as older adults' awareness of their health status, lifestyle, and risk factors. Additionally, the satisfaction levels of both will be evaluated. The items will be evaluated using a 1-5 Likert Scale, and the analysis will be conducted with SPSS. Data recording will be carried out through REDCap. The GEROS Project aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). By offering care to the aging population and providing them with personalized health recommendations, the project promotes preventive strategies, active aging, and intergenerational learning. Furthermore, GEROS integrates innovative educational methodologies, encouraging experiential learning, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and the development of practical skills in real-world contexts. The program's scalability and adaptability could serve as a model for other universities and healthcare institutions aiming to enhance geriatric care through service-learning initiatives.
