Exploration of the Utility of Dental-dedicated MRI for Dentistry

This description observational research is comparative in design, that is comparing existing standard clinical dental images, not obtained in this study, to test (i.e., ddMRI) images. The standard clinical dental images consist of radiographs, such as bitewings, periapical, panoramic, cone-beam CT, and medical CT, as well medical MRIs of the temporomandibular joints (TMJ).The conceptualization of research questions, study designing, and interpretation of imaging data has and will involve content expertise in all ddMRI research.

Bone Level Changes Using Clear Aligners Compared to Fixed Appliances in Non-Extraction Treatment of Adults

This study compares two common ways of straightening teeth in adults who have mild-to-moderate crowding of the lower front teeth and do not need any teeth removed: clear aligners and traditional fixed braces. The main aim is to find out whether the two methods differ in how they affect the bone that surrounds the teeth. Using three-dimensional X-ray scans (cone-beam CT) and digital models of the teeth taken before and during treatment, the researchers measure the level and thickness of the bone around the lower front teeth, the tilt (inclination) of the lower front teeth, and how quickly the crowding is corrected. Adults are randomly assigned to receive either clear aligners or fixed braces, and the same measurements are compared between the two groups over about six months.

Bracket Positioning Techniques and Quality of Orthodontic Finishing

This three-arm randomized clinical trial compares three orthodontic bracket positioning techniques - Smile Arc Protection (SAP), Smile Arc and Marginal Ridge Approach (SAMRA), and the McLaughlin-Bennett-Trevisi (MBT) bracket placement chart (control) - in young patients with Angle Class I malocclusion and mild-to-moderate crowding treated non-extraction. The primary aim is to determine which technique yields the highest quality of orthodontic finishing, measured with the American Board of Orthodontics Objective Grading System (ABO-OGS). Secondary aims compare anterior tooth tip and torque (assessed by CBCT) and mini-esthetic smile parameters (gingival display, incisal display, buccal corridor, and smile arc, assessed on standardized posed-smile photographs) among the three techniques.

Orthodontic Treatment Outcomes of Self Ligating System Compared to Clear Aligner System

This study is a multi-center, prospective, parallel-group randomized controlled trial designed to compare the orthodontic treatment outcomes of a passive self-ligating bracket system (Damon Ultima) versus a clear aligner system. The primary objective is to evaluate and compare the total orthodontic treatment duration between the two systems in patients with Angle Class I malocclusion and moderate crowding. Secondary objectives include assessing alignment efficiency, patient pain perception at multiple time intervals, dental arch dimension changes, root volume loss percentage, and overall treatment quality using the American Board of Orthodontics Objective Grading System (ABO-OGS).

Recent advances in orthodontic treatment have explored various materials to enhance treatment efficacy, particularly focusing on collagen scaffolds. Collagen, being a primary component of the bone matrix, has garnered attention for its biocompatibility, cell adhesion, and osteoconductivity properties. Studies have shown that collagen scaffolds undergo natural degradation, mimicking biological processes, and play a significant role in tissue engineering (International Journal of Implant Dentistry, 2023). This aligns with the growing interest in minimally invasive methods that accelerate orthodontic treatment and improve tissue regeneration. In this context, the application of collagen scaffolds, such as Ossix VOLUMAX, in conjunction with piezo-surgical decortication, presents a novel approach. This study aims to build upon the existing knowledge, exploring the efficacy of collagen scaffolds in enhancing orthodontic treatment outcomes, especially in patients with specific dental conditions like a thin gingival phenotype and malocclusion. The study\'s hypothesis is grounded in the promising properties of collagen-based materials in dental and orthodontic applications, as evidenced by recent research in the field.
