Scaling Effective Behavioral Interventions With MPC Avatar-Based Virtual Training
The goal of this study is to learn if MPC: VISTA, an online training program, helps teachers and health educators deliver Making Proud Choices!, a program that helps teens lower their risk of pregnancy and HIV/STIs. The main questions it aims to answer are:
* Does completing MPC: VISTA improve educators' knowledge, confidence, and teaching skills more than live virtual training or no training? Do students taught by these educators show improvements in their knowledge and attitudes about safer sex practices?
* Researchers will compare MPC: VISTA to live virtual instructor-led training and to a waitlist group (no training during the study period) to see if online training prepares educators as well as, or better than, live training.
Participants will:
* Be placed by chance into one of three groups: MPC: VISTA training, live virtual training, or a waitlist
* Complete surveys and a short teaching skills assessment before and after the training period
* Receive MPC: VISTA training for free after the study ends, if not already assigned to it
* (A smaller group of educators who go on to teach Making Proud Choices! to their own students) have those students complete surveys about their knowledge and attitudes before and after instruction.
