Utilization of Maternal Healthcare Services and Infant Feeding Practices

The goal of this observational study is to assess household food insecurity among slum-dwelling women in India and to explore if household food insecurity is associated with maternal healthcare services utilization and infant feeding practices The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Is the utilization of maternal healthcare services antenatally, during delivery, and postnatally associated with household food insecurity among slum-dwelling women in Pune, India? 2. Is household food insecurity associated with birth outcomes and infant growth in these women? Participants will be asked: 1. For information related to socio-demographic characteristics, healthcare services utilization, food insecurity experience, dietary intake, and infant feeding indicators using a questionnaire. 2. Anthropometric measurements of the participant, her husband and her infant/s will be collected. 3. Focus group discussions (FGDs) will also be conducted to gain insight into the perceptions of these women with respect to the utilization of maternal healthcare services.

Cue-Based Vs. Clinician-Driven Feeding in Very Low Birthweight Infants

In this parallel-group randomized controlled trial, very low birthweight infants will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to either cue-based (intervention group) or clinician-driven feeding (control group). For infants in the intervention group, Speech therapists and nurses will use their cue-based assessment training to aid in clinical management of oral feeding. For infants in the control group, clinicians caring for these infants will define the feeding plan based on their daily assessment.

The Impact of Overnight Nutrition Support on Sleep and Circadian Rhythm Disruption in the ICU

The purpose of this study is to determine whether modifying the timing of nutrition support from overnight to daytime enhances sleep quality, preserves circadian rhythms, and improves overall inflammation and cardiometabolic profiles in postoperative patients in the cardiac surgical ICU on enteral nutrition.

Continuous Versus Bolus Feeding in Neonates With Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy

Therapeutic hypothermia (TH) is accepted worldwide as a standard of care for infants born at or beyond 36 weeks gestational age with moderate-to-severe hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE). While central nervous system is the most affected organ system , multiorgan dysfunction including renal, pulmonary, cardiac, and/or gastrointestinal (GI) compromise is not infrequent. Although the process of 'cooling' itself is well defined, based on high-quality randomized controlled trials, there are few data to inform the provision of nutrition to infants with HIE during and soon after TH.However, breastfeeding plays a beneficial role in maintaining the structural and functional integrity of the gut. It may help to reduce systemic inflammatory response and positively regulates the microbiota. In many studies it is stated that enteral feeding during TH appears to be safe and feasible. There is insufficient evidence to choose the type of enteral feeding either bolus or continuous during TH. The present study aimed to compare the impact of different types of enteral feeding in infants with HIE receiving TH.
