Evaluating the Implementation and Impact of Standard-of-care Delivered Oncology Financial Navigation

The purpose of this study is to understand the implementation and impact of a pragmatically-delivered oncology financial navigation program. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. How did oncology financial navigation implementation strategies affect implementation outcomes? 2. What is the impact of financial navigation on patient financial hardship, quality of life, and psychological distress? 3. How were implementation strategies utilized to overcome barriers to oncology financial navigation? Researchers will examine secondary, standard-of-care collected, patient-reported data, electronic medical record data, and qualitative interview data to answer these questions.

SAFE.AI: Developing and Testing an AI-based Hybrid Chatbot for Financial Empowerment in Rural Cancer Care

This is a randomized, two-arm, parallel-group pilot trial investigating a new chatbot tool designed to support cancer patients and caregivers, particularly those in rural communities. Approximately 60 participants will be randomized 1:1 to interact with either a hybrid chatbot or an AI-enabled chatbot. Participants will use their assigned chatbot to obtain clear and helpful information related to insurance, travel costs, and other financial aspects of cancer care.

Proactive Costs of Care Study

The Proactive Costs of Care intervention is an educational intervention designed to help patients deal with the cost of cancer care. The main goal of this trial is to evaluate whether the Proactive Costs of Care intervention can be successfully delivered to cancer patients who are starting a new treatment and their caregivers by looking at how many participants complete the intervention. The other questions the trial aims to answer are whether the intervention can: * Improve confidence in solving problems related to costs of care * Reduce distress related to finances Participants will complete the Proactive Costs of Care intervention, which is an approximately 30-minute one-time session with a lay educator reviewing the Proactive Costs of Care Guide and Cost Tracker. The intervention can be completed in person, by video, and by phone. Participants will also complete two surveys- one to be completed before the intervention and one to be completed 3 months after the intervention.

Financial Toxicity in Patients With Resected Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcomas

To learn about the financial stress patients undergoing surgery to treat orthopedic cancer experience because of the costs of cancer care, and to learn about the effects of financial stress on participants quality of life.

A Provider Intervention to Reduce Financial Toxicity in Patients With Cancer Through Improved Treatment Cost Discussions

The overall goal of this research program is to address financial toxicity through the development, testing, and implementation of a multi-level communication intervention. If successful, this intervention could be a companion intervention for Cancer providers in combination with the already in testing DISCO app (Discussions of Cost App) for patients. Participants will: * complete a baseline survey * attend two one on one meetings, one as part of the development and the second as part of the pilot testing of the intervention.

DISCO: A Patient Intervention to Reduce the Financial Burden of Cancer

The DISCO App is designed to improve, during the interaction, patient active participation and patient-initiated oncologist treatment cost discussions, and, in the short term, patient's treatment cost knowledge, self-efficacy for managing both cost and physician interactions, referrals, perceived financial toxicity (i.e., distress and material hardship); in turn, these will affect longer-term outcomes of financial toxicity and adherence.

Exploring Physical and Psychological Needs and Quality of Life in Patients With Advanced Cancer Receiving Immunotherapy

During the immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy (ICIT), most of the patients stay at home, but there is lacking of the studies to explore their physical and psychological distress, financial toxicity, care needs, and quality of life. Therefore, the aims of this program are to (1) explore the immune-related adverse event (irAE) severity, distress, financial toxicity, and quality of life and examine the psychometric testing of the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Immune Checkpoint Modulator (FACT-ICM); (2) establish the LINE group for assessing irAE severity and change trajectory of quality of life in one-year follow-up and (3) combined retrospective chart review and the finding in aim (2) to develop the risk prediction model in order to identify the high risk population.
