Postural Habits, Body Awareness, and Functional Performance Across BMI Categories in Women

This cross-sectional study aims to investigate the relationship between postural habits and body awareness with functional performance across different body mass index (BMI) categories in women. Participants will be categorized into four groups based on BMI (normal weight, overweight, obesity class I, and obesity class II-III). Postural habits and awareness, body awareness, and functional performance will be assessed using validated questionnaires and performance-based tests. The study also aims to explore the potential contribution of central adiposity (waist circumference) and psychological factors to these relationships. Findings are expected to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the biomechanical and perceptual factors associated with obesity.

Acute Effects of Kinesiology Taping on Performance in Volleyball Players

Kinesiological tape is frequently used to provide support for injured muscles and joints, enhance fascial function, inhibit pain-inducing stimuli, and improve blood and lymph circulation. However, there is no consensus among researchers and practitioners regarding kinesiological taping, particularly its application to improve athletic performance. This study aimed to investigate the acute changes in functional performance of volleyball players who underwent kinesiological taping. Designed as a randomized controlled experimental study, it planned to include 24 licensed female volleyball players from Anadolu Marmara Sports Schools. Players meeting the inclusion criteria were randomized into kinesiological tape (n:12) and sham (dummy-ineffective) tape (n:12) groups. The assessment will consist of a general warm-up program followed by the single-arm hop test for upper extremity strength, speed, and stability; the closed kinetic chain upper extremity endurance test for strength and endurance; and the medicine ball throw test for functional strength. Following the initial assessment, tests will be repeated immediately after facilitative taping of the pectoralis major and anterior deltoid muscles of the athletes. SPSS 24 statistical program will be used for data analysis. Continuous variables will be presented as mean ± standard deviation, and qualitative variables as number and percentage (%). If the assumptions for parametric tests are met, the Independent Samples t-test will be used for comparing independent groups, and the Paired Samples t-test will be used for comparing dependent groups. If the assumptions for parametric tests are not met, the Mann-Whitney U test will be used for comparing independent groups, and the Wilcoxon test will be used for comparing dependent groups. Statistical significance will be accepted at p≤0.05. This study is expected to contribute to performance-enhancing practices in volleyball players by providing evidence-based data on the application method and effectiveness of kinesiological taping for functional performance.

Acute Effects of Kinesiology Taping on Performance in Soccer Players

Kinesiological taping, frequently used today for the prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and to support athlete performance, has become a popular technique in the field of sports science. However, scientific evidence on the short-term effects of this application on athletes is limited. In this context, the aim of this study is to evaluate the acute changes in functional performance parameters such as speed, agility, and explosive power in football players who underwent kinesiological taping. The aim of this study is to examine the acute effects of kinesiological taping on agility, speed, and lower extremity explosive power in football players. Participants aged 14-18 years who meet the inclusion criteria will be randomized into kinesiological tape (n:12) and sham tape (n:12) groups using a closed envelope method. The T-Agility Test will be used for agility, the 30 m Sprint Test for speed, and the Standing Long Jump Test for lower extremity explosive power. All participants will perform agility, speed, and explosive power tests after the same warm-up program. Following the initial assessment, participants will undergo quadriceps muscle technique using kinesiological taping and sham taping by the same physiotherapist. Tests will be repeated immediately after the tapes are applied. The findings are expected to provide information on the potential of kinesiological taping to contribute to short-term performance improvement in soccer players and its effects on preventing sports injuries.

Development and Feasibility of CTraC-FIT

Functional decline after hospitalization is a serious concern for older Veterans, often leading to loss of independence and disability. VA's nurse-led Coordinated Transitional Care (CTraC) program has demonstrated success in improving care transitions, but currently lacks targeted assessment and intervention to support Veterans' functional recovery. This project aims to develop and test a function-focused CTraC protocol (CTraC-FIT) to address this critical gap and optimize functional outcomes for Veterans transitioning from hospital to home. By integrating evidence-based functional assessment and intervention strategies into the CTraC protocol, this project aims to empower Veterans to regain and maintain their independence and improve their quality of life.

Effect of Sensory Training on Functional Performance, Balance, Gait in Type 2 Diabetic Individuals With Neuropathy

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a common complication of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. DPN is characterized by significant axonal degeneration and segmental demyelination affecting sensory and motor nerves. The effect of foot sole sensation on gait and balance parameters has been reported in various studies in the literature, however, no study has been found examining the effect of foot sensory training on plantar sensation, functional performance, balance, gait and kinesiophobia in type 2 diabetic individuals with neuropathy. In order to contribute to the literature, 40 type 2 diabetic individuals with neuropathy who applied to the Turgut Ozal Medical Center Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases Polyclinic will be included in this randomized controlled study. After diabetic foot training is given to all participants, an experimental (20) and a control (20) group will be formed with a sequential random method. Foot sensory training will be given to the experimental group, while no intervention will be made to the control group, and sensory training will be given to the participants who wish after the study is completed. All participants will be evaluated for subscapular sense, functional performance, balance, walking and kinesiophobia at the beginning and end of the training. Subscapular sense will be evaluated with light touch, two-point discrimination and vibration tests. Functional performance evaluation will be made with timed up and go test and timed stair ascent-descend test. Kinesiophobia will be analyzed with Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale, Balance; One-Legged Stand Test and Y balance tests and walking will be analyzed with Kinect V2 camera based software. Physical activity levels will be evaluated with International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form. The data taken into the research will be analyzed with SPSS (Statistical Program in Social Sciences) program. The values belonging to the data will be expressed with percentage, mean and standard deviation, and the significance level (p) will be taken as 0.05 for comparison tests.
