Endoscopic Treatment of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid repeatedly flows back into the tube connecting your mouth and stomach (esophagus). This backwash (acid reflux) can irritate the inner lining of the esophagus. This is a particular problem after surgery to reduce obesity called gastric sleeve resection. The goal of this small clinical trial is to examine the effect of endoscopic treatment of GERD by mucosal band ligation. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does the treatment affect gastroesophageal reflux assessed by measuring gastroesophageal reflux * Does the treatment affect gastroesophageal reflux symptoms and ability to stop treatment with medication commonly used (proton pump inhibitors) Participants (n=12) will be asked to undergo 24 h reflux examination and report symptoms of GERD. Suitable patients will be offered endoscopic treatment with band ligation of the inner lining of the lower esophagus and upper part of the stomach. The effects will be assessed three and six months after the procedure.

Patient Preferences for Barrett's Esophagus and Esophageal Cancer Screening Tests

This study plans to learn more about what patients think about screening for esophageal cancer (EAC) and Barrett's esophagus (BE); a pre-cancerous condition associated with esophageal cancer. The plan is to use this information to modify screening practices in the United States with the goal to decrease the number of people who die from esophageal cancer.

The Effect of Postural Correction On Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

The main aim of this randomized controlled trial is to investigate the effects of postural correctional exercises and interventions on the severity of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) as well as the quality of life of patients afflicated with this disease. The main questions this study aims to answer is: 1. Do postural correctional exercises reduce the symptoms of GERD? 2. Do postural correctional exercises improve the quality of life of individuals afflicted with GERD? The experimental group in this study will undergo real postural correctional exercises whereas the control group will undergo sham postural correctional interventions and then the two groups will be compared post-treatment based on GERD severity of symptoms as well as quality of life of the patients afflicted with GERD.
