PREVENT HPV -Related Cancers Trial

This study will serve as one of the first to develop and test the effectiveness of strategies to promote HPV vaccination among diverse rural parents and caregivers of children ages 9-17 years in the Mountain West. Once implemented into practice, our intervention could significantly reduce disparities in the burden of HPV-associated cancers among rural populations in the United States. The proposed study will assess the effectiveness of a clinic-based behavioral outreach intervention to increase HPV vaccination rates at community clinics in rural counties. The intervention consists of communication and engagement strategies delivered within routine care settings and is designed to pose no more than minimal risk to participants.

Parents' HPV Stories

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the feasibility of intervention implementation in two clinics in rural KY, and its preliminary efficacy with regards to increasing vaccine confidence in a sample of vaccine hesitant parents. Hypothesis: Parents will report increased vaccine confidence scores post-intervention. Data from this study will provide preliminary data for a larger scale evaluation of the intervention. Participants will be asked to complete surveys, view a web-based intervention and then visit with their child's healthcare provider.

A Trial to Establish Non-inferiority of Immunogenicity of a Single-dose of CERVAVAC® Quadrivalent HPV Vaccine Compared to the Gardasil® Quadrivalent Vaccine Among Girls and Boys Aged 9 to 14 Years and in Girls/Women Aged 15 to 20 Years in Zambia

The goal of this study is to compare the immune response of the single dose of the CERVAVAC vaccine with the single dose of Gardasil vaccine in girls/women aged 9 to 20 and boys aged 9 to 14 at 6 months, 12 months and 24 months post vaccination. The vaccine will be given randomly to the boys and girls/women in these age group and they will be followed up to check the immune status developed in them after vaccination. The status of immune response developed by the two differnet vaccines will be compared in these group of participants of the study.

Culturally Targeted Health Communication and Receptivity to the Human Papillomavirus Vaccine Among Parents in Flint, MI

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if culturally targeted messaging about the human papillomavirus (HPV) increases receptivity to the HPV vaccine among African American parents of vaccine-eligible daughters. The main question it aims to answer is: • Does culturally targeted messaging increase African American parents' intentions to vaccinate their daughter against HPV? Research will compare culturally targeted messaging to general, educational messaging and no messaging. Participants will: * View culturally targeted messages, education-only messages, or no messages about the HPV vaccine * Report their intentions to vaccinate their daughter against HPV * Report whether they have initiated HPV vaccination for their daughter six months later

OPERATION WIPE OUT: Multi-Channel Communication Campaign to Promote HPV Vaccination in Chambers County, Alabama

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends HPV vaccination for all children and adults ages 9 to 26 in the U.S. However, HPV vaccination rates nationally and in Alabama lag far behind the Healthy People 2020 goal of 80% coverage. Despite multiple efforts, Alabama still ranks third in cervical cancer mortality and incidence nationally with great disparities within the state, particularly between urban and rural counties. In order to address this public health challenge, organizations have come together to develop, implement, and evaluate a statewide action plan to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem in Alabama by 2033. This plan was officially launched by the State Health Officer in May 2023 as a partnership between government, academia, civic organizations, and non-profit organizations and is known as OPERATION WIPE OUT. The overall goal of this Supplement is to develop, implement, and examine the feasibility and scalability of a theory-driven, participatory multi-channel communication campaign to promote HPV vaccination uptake that is designed and delivered by high school students with the support of OPERATION WIPE OUT partners and linked to school-based vaccination in a rural county that has the highest cervical cancer incidence in the state (Chambers County). The specific aims are: (1) To develop and examine the feasibility of a theory-driven, participatory multi-channel communication campaign to promote HPV vaccination uptake with high school students being agents of change and provision of school-based vaccination; and (2) To examine specific features of the multi-channel communication campaign regarding scalability, sustainability, and potentially a future full-scale implementation science trial. The primary outcome will be HPV vaccination uptake at the county level obtained Alabama Department of Public Health Vaccination Registry (ImmPRINT). Additionally, treatment fidelity and scalability assessments will be conducted to inform sustainability efforts.

Empowering Vietnamese Americans

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn whether short videos can help Vietnamese American mothers decide to vaccinate their children against HPV (human papillomavirus). The study will explore: (1) which type of video is most effective in encouraging mothers to vaccinate their children; (2) how mothers perceive and engage with the videos; and (3) how many children receive the HPV vaccine after their mothers watch the videos. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: (a) watch four short digital stories about the HPV vaccine created by Vietnamese mothers; (b) watch four short informational videos about HPV and the vaccine; or (c) watch four short videos on general teen health topics such as mental health and social media use. Participants will complete brief surveys and their child's HPV vaccination status will be checked two months after the intervention.

Study for Prevention of Cervical Cancer in Spain

The REVIVE study aims to analyze the current status of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programs and cervical cancer screening strategies in Spain. Its objective is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the effectiveness of these preventive measures, as well as to identify the main barriers to access and the existing inequalities in care. The study will also examine the impact of misinformation on population engagement and on the overall equity of the prevention system. Despite significant advances in both vaccination and screening efforts, cervical cancer remains a major public health concern in Spain. In 2024 alone, 2,259 new cases were diagnosed, that incidence has remained relatively stable in recent years, even decades. Mortality rates have also shown little change, with over 600 deaths annually, totaling nearly 10,000 in the last 15 years. To address this, the study plans to include approximately 200 patients diagnosed with cervical cancer in Spain between 2019 and 2024. It is a retrospective, observational, and non-interventional study. Data will be collected from existing medical records and supplemented with a specific questionnaire administered to the participating patients.

Integrated HPV Vaccination and Adolescent Health in Ivory Coast

Background: Cervical cancer is a serious global public health problem, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, where it is the leading cause of cancer in women, with around 70,722 new cases each year. Vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) prevents cervical cancer and is usually given to children around 9 to 15 years of age. HPV vaccination has been incorporated into many countries' Expanded Programs on Immunization, but often faces optimization and uptake challenges. SHARP is an implementation research initiative in Tanzania, Nigeria, and Côte d'Ivoire that is looking at the potential of combining HPV vaccination with with adolescent primary care/preventive health services - how this might work and its effect on the uptake of the HPV vaccine and other services. Objective: To describe the feasibility, acceptability, effectiveness and sustainability of a locally-designed integrated adolescent health service package, including HPV vaccination in Cote d'Ivoire. Specifically, this study aims to optimize existing primary health care approaches, making service delivery not only more convenient but also more effective in addressing the specific needs of adolescents-both in school and out of school-across schools, communities, and health facilities. Methods: This is a quasi-experimental research study using the difference-in-difference method between an intervention group and a comparison group over time. It will use mixed methods drawing on quantitative surveys, qualitative interviews, service time motion assessment, and administrative data. The study will be conducted in two regions, each with an intervention and comparison district. The optimized adolescent integrated health intervention will be implemented in the intervention districts with routine service provision in comparison areas. Monthly administrative service coverage data and baseline and endline surveys will be conducted in up to 3502 households with 1626 parents/caregivers and 1626 adolescents will assess effectiveness by looking at changes in service uptake and coverage, as well in knowledge, attitudes, and practices towards HPV vaccination and integrated services. At endline, up to 132 in-depth interviews will be conducted with program managers, health officials, service providers, school authorities, community influencers and leaders, and adolescents and parents/caregivers will assess feasibility, acceptability and sustainability.
