Cost-Effectiveness and Clinical Outcomes of Double J Stent Versus Percutaneous Feeding Tube Placement Following Open Pyeloplasty in Pediatric Patients: A Prospective Randomized Single-center Study

Open pyeloplasty is a common surgical intervention for pediatric patients with ureteropelvic junction obstruction. Post-operative management strategies, including the use of a double J stent and a percutaneous feeding tube, vary widely. While both options have demonstrated effectiveness in drainage, their relative clinical outcomes, costs, and overall value in pediatric urology remain unclear. This randomized controlled trial (RCT) aims to compare the clinical efficacy and cost-effectiveness of these two post-operative interventions in pediatric patients undergoing open pyeloplasty.

Effects of General Health Risk Factors on Prolonged Hospital Stay

According to the literature, a detailed preoperative anesthesia assessment systematically verifies perioperative risks, provides functional and physiological optimization, improves the patient's condition and the perioperative process, and prevents complications. In this context, the investigators aimed to determine the frequency of lifestyle risk factors in patients who applied to investigator's clinic for preoperative anesthesia assessment due to adult gastrointestinal endoscopy, to investigate the relationship between lifestyle risk factors and factors and outcomes during the anesthesia procedure, and to compare the effects of these risk factors on developing complications and hospital stay.

Effect of Incentive Spirometer and Pursed Lip Breathing After Whipple Procedure.

Whipple procedure is one of the most complex surgeries among hepatobiliary surgeries. It has named as Pancreaticoduodenectomy. It can cause many PPCs. Lung volumes are reduced due to atelectasis and pneumonia. Incentive spirometer (IS) is used to prevent PPCs. Due to general anesthesia, atelectasis is among most frequent PPCs. Pursed Lip Breathing (PLB) supports the patient to control the breath. The shriveling lips provide resistance to the air flowing out of the lungs. Airway collapse can be prevented by prolonged exhalation. Dyspnea occurs during 6MWT when patient performs walk in corridor. The aim of this study is to check the effect of Incentive Spirometer and Pursed Lip Breathing to improve dyspnea, oxygen saturation and hospital stay after Whipple procedure. This research of RCT will check the effect of IS and PLB by taking sample size of 60 post-operative patients through convenient sampling technique by allocating them randomly in group A and group B. Group A will receive PLB and group B will receive IS with baseline treatment chest percussions up to the duration of every day till discharge (reading will be collected on every 4rth day), dyspnea will be assessed through 6MWT and measured by Modified MRC dyspnea scale. The data will be analyzed through SPSS 26.
