The Relationship Between Training Dynamics and General Health Status in Veteran Football Players

The goal of this observational study is to learn how training habits and general health status are related to injury risk in veteran football players (men over 35 years old who play recreational football). The main questions it aims to answer are: Do specific training patterns (such as frequency, intensity, and duration) increase or lower the risk of injury? How does general health status (including factors like sleep, nutrition, and existing health conditions) affect injury risk? Participants will: Complete questionnaires about their training habits, lifestyle, and general health Report any injuries they experience during the football season Attend periodic health assessments

Shoulder Health After Rehabilitation and Performance Training

The goal of this study is to investigate the impact of a home-based shoulder strength training on the overall shoulder health in manual wheelchair users, and if the timepoint of such a training makes a difference. The study is focusing on persons with a spinal cord injury in the thoracic or lumbar region of the spine, that have only recently been injured and will soon be discharged from primary rehabilitation. The shoulder training will take place either 3 or 12 months after discharge from primary rehabilitation and will be carried out twice a week for 12 weeks. There are six measurements occurring every three months, which leads to an overall duration of 15 months. The measurements consist of: * Questionnaires about independence in daily life, participation, quality of life and physical activity * Assessment of shoulder strength, range of motion and function * Measurement of the daily wheelchair use during one week via sensors that are fixed to the wheelchair and wrist * one further questionnaire at the end of the measurement week about the occurrence of shoulder pain Additionally, on four of the six measurement timepoints, a magnet resonance image (MRI) of the shoulder will be taken to assess the shoulder status (pathology, muscle volume and quality). Though all these measurements the researchers can additionally assess the load of daily life on the shoulders, and how well this matches the preparation during the primary rehabilitation.

Application and Benefit Evaluation of Wearable Technology and Information Software-Based Psychological Stress Monitoring in Return-to-Work Healthcare for Injured Workers: A Longitudinal Study

Objective This study aims to develop and evaluate a multidisciplinary service model that integrates wearable devices and mobile health applications to monitor the physical and mental health of workers with occupational injuries during their return-to-work process. Background With advances in digital health, smartwatches and mobile applications are increasingly used in healthcare to support personalized monitoring and intervention. This project targets injured workers attending occupational medicine clinics, using smartwatches to monitor physiological data and a mobile application to assess psychological status. The model includes remote mental health support and aims to assess its impact on return-to-work outcomes and psychological well-being. Methods A total of 120 eligible injured workers will be randomly assigned to an intervention or control group. All participants will receive standard outpatient care. The intervention group will additionally use a smartwatch for physiological monitoring and a mobile app for daily to weekly psychological assessments. The 6-month follow-up will evaluate return-to-work success rate, time to return, post-return quality of life, and mental health status. Intervention Tools The NTU Medical Genie, Labfront, and LINE@ platforms will facilitate real-time monitoring and batch downloading of smartwatch data, as well as the distribution of mood and stress-related questionnaires. At least three occupational rehabilitation education modules will be developed, and case managers will deliver individualized health education and psychological support. Expected Outcomes The study will assess the effectiveness of this technology-supported, cross-disciplinary care model in improving return-to-work outcomes, mental health, and quality of life. It will also explore participant satisfaction and acceptance of the model. The findings are expected to inform future occupational health interventions and enhance care quality for injured workers.

Optimized Recovery After Trauma in Geriatric Patient

Currently, there is evidence that structured care within the healthcare system increases the conditions for good care and better recovery. We want to investigate whether a new care concept (gero-ERAT) that combines two variants of structured care can improve the recovery of elderly patients affected by a physical trauma. Our hope is that the project will reduce the complications, short care times, fewer re-admissions and that more patients can return to regular living, which reduces the suffering for the patient and his relatives. In addition to patient benefit, a successful outcome will also result in reduced costs for healthcare and society as a whole. The concept of care is based on an increased patient participation, which is in line with the values of the Västra Götaland region and the Sahlgrenska university hospital Through the PhD project, four studies will be published. A qualitative interview study to investigate patients' experiences of care and recovery after trauma. After that, a prospective cohort survey of two groups is carried out; conventional care and gero-ERAT. Data will begin to be collected in the control group and when the control group is full geroRATAT will be implemented in the care department and we then collect data in the intervention group. Based on collected data, we will publish two additional studies one with a focus on health economics as well as one focusing on care time and recovery based on age and harvest estimation.
