NCT07362589

Effect of Preoperative Pain Education on Anxiety, Pain, and Analgesic Use in Total Knee and Hip Replacement Patients

This randomized controlled trial evaluates whether a standardized preoperative pain education session delivered by a nurse reduces postoperative pain intensity and surgical anxiety among adult elective orthopedic surgery patients compared with usual care. Primary outcome is postoperative pain at 24 hours. Secondary outcomes include anxiety, analgesic consumption, patient satisfaction, and length of stay

Investigating Patient Satisfaction With Smart Knee Implants

The main goal of this study is to see if there is a connection between the social and economic resources available in a patient's neighborhood (measured by the Area Deprivation Index, ADI) and their recovery after knee replacement surgery, as tracked through remote monitoring. A secondary goal is to find out if patients' self-reported pain and function score are linked to their actual physical improvement after surgery as measured by a remote therapeutic monitoring (RTM) device. Additionally, this study examines whether RTM can reduce the number of postoperative clinic visits within the first 90 days after surgery while maintaining patient satisfaction and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).

Effect of Virtual Reality on Patient Outcomes and Satisfaction in Total Knee Replacement

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) in managing preoperative anxiety and postoperative pain in patients undergoing total knee replacement. Investigators will assess the impact of preoperative VR training on anxiety levels, explore the effectiveness of relaxing and distracting VR videos for pain management after surgery, and determine the optimal timing for VR application by comparing different VR intervention times. Our goal is to identify how VR can improve both the emotional and physical recovery process for patients undergoing knee replacement surgery.

The Effect of Baduanjin on Patients Undergoing Knee Replacement Surgery

This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effects of Baduanjin, a traditional Chinese mind-body exercise, on pain, comfort, and quality of recovery in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The study will be conducted between July 2025 and July 2026 at Yalova Training and Research Hospital's Orthopedics Clinic. Sixty patients will be randomly assigned into two groups: an intervention group practicing Baduanjin and a control group receiving standard postoperative care. The intervention will begin on the first postoperative day and continue for three weeks. Outcome measures include the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain, the General Comfort Questionnaire, and the Quality of Recovery-40 (QoR-40) questionnaire. These assessments will be conducted weekly for three weeks. The control group will follow routine postoperative care without Baduanjin. The primary objective is to determine whether Baduanjin can improve postoperative outcomes in terms of pain reduction, increased comfort, and better recovery quality.

Optimizing a Remote-based Physical Activity Intervention for Adults with Total Knee Replacement

The purpose of this study is to identify which supplemental intervention components added to an online exercise program contribute to the greatest increases in physical activity (total MVPA and percent meeting guidelines \[≥150 min/week of MVPA\]) in adults with knee replacement at 6 and 12 months. Secondary outcomes will examine changes in pain and physical function.
