Effects of NICU Scenario-Based Simulation on Nursing Students' Perceived Stress, Satisfaction, Self-Confidence, and Learning: A Mixed-Methods Study
This mixed-methods study examines the effects of neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) scenario-based simulation training on third-year nursing students' perceived stress, learning satisfaction, self-confidence, and simulation-based learning experiences. All eligible participants will receive a high-fidelity simulation session involving a NICU scenario that includes therapeutic communication with a postpartum mother, neonatal emergency intervention, and support for mother-infant interaction. The simulation protocol consists of prebriefing (3 minutes), environmental orientation (3 minutes), scenario-based simulation (10 minutes), and debriefing using the PEARLS model (30 minutes). Quantitative data will be collected before and after the simulation using validated scales. Qualitative data will be gathered through semi-structured focus group interviews following the simulation. The study aims to provide evidence on the effectiveness of NICU simulation-based education in nursing training.

Effectiveness and Implementation of a Clinical Pain Management Dashboard for the NICU
This study protocol describes a type 1 hybrid effectiveness-implementation study evaluating a clinical decision support dashboard for neonatal pain management in a tertiary NICU. Using a pre- and post-implementation design, the study assesses whether the dashboard reduces the duration of inadequately managed neonatal discomfort during the first seven days of admission, while concurrently evaluating implementation outcomes such as acceptability, appropriateness, fidelity, and penetration. Quantitative EHR- and dashboard-derived data are complemented by qualitative interviews and observations to provide a comprehensive evaluation of both clinical impact and implementation processes.

Neonatal Mask Seal; a Two-handed Versus One-handed Approach: The NeoSeal Study
When babies can't breathe effectively, we can use a facemask to give them breaths and oxygen. The mask can be held with one or two hands, depending on the preference of the doctor. Both types of mask holds are recommended in international guidelines, but it is unclear which one is better for the baby. If a lot of air is leaking around the mask, it means that the baby is not getting the full breathing support that the healthcare providers are trying to give. There currently is not enough evidence to say which type of hold is better to reduce this potential leaking of air. In this study, the investigators will compare two different ways of holding a mask on a baby's face to help them breathe. Each baby will be randomly allocated to either a one-handed or a two-handed mask hold, and the investigators will measure how much air leaks out around the mask during each breath. Any baby in the neonatal unit may be included in this study.
