The aim of this research is to evaluate the effect of the Skin Color Scale Material used by families in the postnatal period on the hospital admission process due to jaundice and breastfeeding parameters. Although neonatal jaundice is mostly physiological, it can lead to serious complications such as kernicterus if not detected in time. Visually supported educational materials developed to provide early awareness can help families both to regularly monitor the baby's skin color and to notice the signs of jaundice in time.

Reliability of Transcutaneous Bilirubin Measurement According to the Skin Colour of Newborns
Neonatal jaundice is a physiological process characterized by a yellow coloration of the skin and mucous membranes linked to an increase in a pigment: bilirubin. However, an excessive accumulation of bilirubin can lead to neurological complications: kernicterus. The screening for pathological jaundice is carried out through daily measurements of transcutaneous bilirubin using non-invasive devices (bilirubinometers). The diagnosis is made by measuring blood bilirubin levels and comparing them with reference curves. In newborns with dark skin, transcutaneous bilirubin measurements may be inaccurate because melanin interferes with the bilirubinometers.

BUBOLight®, a New Phototherapy Device for the Treatment of the Newborn's Jaundice
About 50% of full-term newborns and 80% of premature infants develop jaundice which is due to hyperbilirubinemia. In the majority of cases, jaundice disappears naturally without treatment within three weeks of birth, but the bilirubin level may remain too high, which can lead to a serious neurological disease: kernicterus. To avoid this, a therapeutic management must be instituted, and in some cases, one or more phototherapy sessions (PT) may be prescribed. The aim of this trial is to evaluate the safety and level of satisfaction of parents and healthcare team with one innovative device for phototherapy BUBOLight® included two removable strips of luminous textile incorporating optical fibers. 10 newborns requiring phototherapy, will be illuminated during four hours in one session of PT Bilirubin levels is taken at the start of phototherapy H0 and Controls are made at H+6 hours.

NeoSCB App for Screening Jaundice in Newborns
About 60% of babies born after 36 weeks of pregnancy have jaundice during the first two weeks of life. Due to the accumulation of bilirubin in the bloodstream, jaundiced babies appear yellow, which allows healthcare professionals to visually identify significantly jaundiced babies. They will be referred for a blood test to determine if the bilirubin level is so high that treatment such as phototherapy, or more intensive help is required. Left untreated or treatment delayed, jaundice can potentially result in serious brain damage and even death (rare). However, visual inspection of jaundiced babies is inaccurate, often need to unnecessary referrals to hospital blood tests. We have developed the "neoSCB" smartphone app, which accurately detects significant jaundice by taking photographs of the baby's sclera (white part of an eye) and analysing its yellowness using a diagnostic algorithm. The neoSCB app has previously been validated in Ghana involving over 700 newborn babies. In this new study, we will recruit 405 newborn babies with a range of jaundice levels to validate an optimised diagnostic algorithm following our latest research. Two existing commercial screening devices will also be used to investigate whether the app delivers a similar accuracy, at a fraction of the cost. We will enhance the usability of the app and add new features following feedback from patients and healthcare professionals. A health economic study will be conducted to evaluate the economic benefits to the NHS.

Comparing Integrative Midwife-led vs. Fragmented Inpatient Postpartum Care: Impact on Satisfaction and Transition to Motherhood
The goal of this clinical trial is to compare two different forms of postnatal care to find out which is most beneficial for mothers and their children after birth and with which they are most satisfied. One is a nurse-led, seperate model of care and the other is a midwife-led, integrative model of care. Participants are healthy women between the ages of 18 and 50. They gave birth between 36+0 and 42+0 weeks of pregnancy and had a child. The type of birth is not an inclusion or exclusion criteria. Our hypotheses are: i) that maternal satisfaction with care in a midwife-led, integrative care model is higher than in separate maternal and infant care; ii) that a positive postpartum experience leads to earlier and increased maternity competence; iii) that a higher breastfeeding rate at the time of the survey in the fourth month can be achieved through integrative care. Participants will be randomly assigned, after birth of their child, to either the group cared for by a nurse or the group cared for by a midwife.

Preventive Effect of Perinatal Oral Probiotic Supplementation (POPS) on Neonatal Jaundice
This is a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled parallel group superiority clinical trial among 94 pregnant women (47 in each group) to investigate the effect of maternal perinatal probiotic supplementation on neonatal jaundice, breast milk microbiome, maternal stool, and infant fecal microbiome. Vivomixx®-probiotic product will be used as treatment and placebo as a control.

Evaluation of Bilirubin Estimates in Newborns From Smartphone Digital Images in a Population in Botswana
