Engaging Pharmacists to Advance Tobacco Treatment Service Delivery

This research will test the effects of a novel program (ENHANCE-TTS) with tools, training, and clinic facilitation support that capitalizes on pharmacists' roles by expanding their scope of practice to deliver tobacco treatment. This effectiveness-implementation study will evaluate the effects of the ENHANCE-TTS program on implementation outcomes and patient-level smoking cessation outcomes in people living with HIV and concurrently identify key barriers and facilitators to implementing this program in practice.

PrEP & Soccer: A Program for Pharmacy Chains to Increase PrEP Awareness and Access Among Men

This type 3 Hybrid Effectiveness-Implementation study will evaluate PrEP \& Soccer, a multicomponent and multilevel implementation strategy delivered by a pharmacy chain to increase PrEP knowledge and initial PrEP appointment attendance among men. Using mixed methods and implementation science approaches, this parallel cluster randomized controlled study will assess key implementation factors at CVS Health pharmacy locations assigned either to the PrEP \& Soccer intervention or to a general CVS Health service information-only control.

Pharmacist-physiotherapist Collaborative Management for Early Knee Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a slowly progressive chronic condition that is associated with aging and is characterized as joint pain. Individuals with early-stage OA usually do not seek medical attention. If and when they do, patients more often present to a pharmacy for over-the-counter medications. The investigators want to leverage community pharmacists' accessibility and scope of practice to best support patients with early knee OA. Given there are no disease-modifying treatments for OA, treatment guidelines center on patient education, self-management, and exercise, with medications playing a supporting role. Self-management is an effective strategy that provides a solid foundation for managing this progressive chronic condition and health care professionals like physiotherapists and pharmacists can help with the development and application of these skills.

The Electronic Asthma Management System in Pharmacies

The goal of this study is to assess the effect of an electronic asthma management system in pharmacies (eAMS-Pharm) on asthma control assessment, asthma medication adjustment, asthma action plan delivery, and prompting for specialist referral in severe asthma. The study assesses the differences on pharmacy processes (affecting both the pharmacy team and patients) and pharmacy-delivered care using an interrupted time-series analysis (six-months before vs. six-months after the introduction of eAMS-Pharm in study pharmacy sites). The eAMS-Pharm uses patient data (asthma control, asthma flare-up risk, and current medications) to provide clinical decision support to pharmacists, empowering them to bridge existing gaps between guideline-recommended asthma care and patient care received.

The ROAD 2.0 to Sustainable Medication Use: Redispensing Unused Oral Anticancer Drugs

The goal of this prospective intervention study is to investigate the effectiveness of redispensing unused oral anticancer drugs. The main questions it aims to answer are: * What are the cost-savings of redispensing unused oral anticancer drugs? * What is the environmental impact of redispensing unused oral anticancer drugs? Researchers will compare redispensing unused oral anticancer drugs to the standard practice of disposal. Participants will receive their oral anticancer drugs in a sealed bag with a temperature indicator if needed. They will be asked to return any unused oral anticancer drugs to the pharmacy during their next visit to the hospital.
