Integrative Adolescence Research Programme (IARP)

This study aims to understand child health during adolescence. We will examine the role of lifestyle (e.g. physical activity), growth trajectories and other environmental factors that can influence the development of phenotypes in adolescence which confer risk for later physical and mental disorders. With this study, we will develop a deeper understanding of adolescent health and well-being and their main determinants in the local Singaporean context, identify levers for early interventions to mitigate challenges to adolescent health and well-being and enhance protective factors for adolescents to do well in life, contribute to society and maximize their potential.

Analgesic Requirement for Post-Operative Pain Control in TLIP Interbody Fusion

The goal of this clinical trail is to to compare the efficacy of thoracolumbar interfascial plane block with Exparel vs with standard of care 0.25% Bupivacaine HCl in patients undergoing 1-3 level elective transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion. The investigators hypothesize that thoracolumbar interfascial plane block with Exparel will outperform standard of care (supplemented with interfascial plane block of 0.25% Bupivacaine HCl) with regards to pain reduction, narcotic use, length of hospital stay, time to mobilization with physical therapy, narcotic usage in the hospital, and post operative pain scores.

The Effect of Sleep Quality on Mental and Physical Health

This study aimed to explore the relationship between sleep quality and its impact on mental and physical health, particularly in the context of stress. A mixed methods approach will be used including: a pre-test questionnaire and physiological measurements that depend on scales for measuring to assess sleep patterns: DASS21, fatigue assessment scale, Epworth sleeping scale, and SF-12 health survey scoring. All of that will highlight the importance of addressing sleep quality as a crucial factor in promoting overall well-being.
