The Effect of Remotely Delivered Pilates on Physical , and Psychological Outcomes in Individuals With Multiple Sclerosis

Objectives Objective 1: To determine the effects of a 16-week remotely delivered Pilates intervention on walking endurance, walking speed, balance, fatigue, and pain compared to a waitlist control group in individuals with MS. Objective 2: To examine the impact of a 16-week remotely delivered Pilates intervention on depression \& anxiety, cognitive function, and QOL compared to a waitlist control group in individuals with MS. Aim Aim 1: To assess whether the 16-week remotely delivered Pilates intervention significantly improves walking endurance, walking speed, balance, fatigue, and pain compared to a waitlist control group in individuals with MS Aim 2: To investigate whether the 16-week remotely delivered Pilates intervention significantly improves depression \& anxiety, cognitive function, and QOL compared to a waitlist control group in individuals with MS. Hypothesis Hypothesis 1: The 16-week remotely delivered Pilates intervention will significantly improve walking endurance, walking speed, balance, fatigue, and pain compared to a waitlist control group in individuals with MS. Hypothesis 2: Participants receiving the 16-week remotely delivered Pilates intervention will demonstrate significantly greater improvements in depression \& anxiety, cognitive function, and QOL compared to a waitlist control group in individuals with MS.

The Pilates Method in the Rehabilitation of Achilles Tendinopathy - A Randomised Controlled Study

Achilles Tendinopathy (AT) is characterized by pain, swelling and dysfunction. Rehabilitation strategies focus on conservative treatment, with eccentric exercise being the main and most popular option. Patient education based on the biopsychosocial model is considered important for effective self-management, including modification of activities and loads and pain monitoring. Established exercise protocols are applied in rehabilitation, with eccentric, eccentric- concentric combinations and high-resistance exercises performed at a slow pace being the most popular. The Pilates method , which has gained popularity in recent years, focuses on core stabilization, motor control, correct posture through respiratory patterns during execution as well as flow and mindfulness and is applied to the rehabilitation of various musculoskeletal disorders. Although there is a research background in rehabilitation, the data for its application in AT are limited. The present study aims to investigate the integration of Pilates into clinical practice for AT.

The Relationship of Core Endurance With Cervical Stabilization and Proprioception in Women With and Without Pilates Exercise

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between core endurance and cervical stabilization and proprioception in women with and without Pilates exercise. The study was conducted with 40 volunteer female participants aged 20-50 years. The study group was selected from women who did Pilates exercises 2 days a week for at least 12 weeks under the supervision of a physiotherapist, while the control group was selected from women who did not participate in any Pilates, yoga or exercise program in the last 1 year and were sedentary according to the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. Lateral Bridge Test, Static Trunk Extension Test, Trunk Flexor Endurance Test, Cervical Joint Position Error Test, Cervical Region Deep Flexor Muscle Endurance Tests were applied to the participants and Craniocervical Flexion data of the participants were evaluated with Stabilizer Pressure Biofeedback Device and the results were recorded. These results indicate that high performance in core endurance is associated with improved performance in cervical stabilization. As a result of this study, it was concluded that Pilates has a significant effect on core endurance, cervical stabilization and proprioception in women.
