Practical Approaches to Care in Emergency Syncope
Syncope, or transient loss of consciousness, is a common reason for visit to the Emergency Department and often leads to extensive testing and hospitalization. Using objective risk scores to determine which patients with syncope will actually benefit from these interventions, and which can be safely discharged home with minimal testing, is critical to providing sensible medical care. This study will evaluate the validity of two syncope risk-stratification tools and investigate their impact on healthcare utilization and patient safety, thus improving the quality of care for the 1-2 million patients who experience syncope every year in the United States

A Warning Red Flag Classification System to Predict Risk of Vasovagal Event During Office Hysteroscopy
The goal of this pilot cross sectional study is to identify participants at risk of vasovagal reaction/syncope(VVR/VVS) during office hysteroscopy. A predictive red flag classification system is being studied to improve procedural safety during office hysteroscopy. Researchers will perform office hysteroscopy as per the standard protocol by vaginoscopic technique. A nurse positioned at the head side of the participant will record signs and symptoms of VVR/VVS. The participant will be asked of the severity of the pain experienced during office hysteroscopy in relation to their menstrual cycle. The procedure will be discontinued at any point the participant wishes to stop.
