Hyperpolarized 129-Xenon Imaging in Adult Hematopoietic Cell Transplant Recipients With Pulmonary Impairment

This study is designed to measure the correlation of hyperpolarized 129-Xe magnetic resonance imaging (129-XeMRI) in allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (allo-HCT) recipients at MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) who develop bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS) or BOS stage 0p (pulmonary impairment not meeting the definition for BOS, defined below) and controls with chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD). The primary objective of the study is to correlate 129-Xenon measures of ventilation, gas exchange, and pulmonary circulation with spirometric and quantitative CT measurements. A secondary objective is to determine whether measurement of 129-Xe MRI characteristics in patients with BOS stage 0p can predict BOS progression 6 months after enrollment.

The Study Examined the Acute Effects of Wim Hof on Aerobic Training and Cardiodynamics.

Researchers will split the sixty healthy smokers in half. Thirty people will serve as a control group and will be asked to walk or jog at a controlled pace for twelve minutes as part of an aerobic exercise program. Separately, 30 people participated in an aerobic exercise session that lasted 12 minutes and involved walking or running at a pace that the participants themselves controlled. WHBM will be done both prior to and subsequent to physical activity. To determine how WHBM affects the experimental group's pre- and post-WHBM heart rates, SpO2, blood pressure, and VO2 max, this study will be conducted.

Inspiratory Muscle Training After Stroke

Objective: To investigate and compare the efficacy of a 6-week, supervised respiratory training program using the AiroFit PRO™ mobile respiratory trainer against traditional Pursed-Lips Breathing exercises in individuals with hemiplegia. Study Design: A single-blind, two-arm, randomized controlled trial. Participants: Ambulatory adults with stable hemiplegia (≥3 months post-stroke), who are medically stable and able to follow commands. Interventions: Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: Experimental Group: Will perform Inspiratory Muscle Training using the AiroFit PRO™ device for 15 minutes/day, 5 days/week, for 6 weeks. The intensity will be progressively increased. Active Control Group: Will perform Pursed-Lips Breathing exercises for an identical duration and frequency. Primary Outcomes: Changes in pulmonary function tests, including Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 second (FEV1), and Maximal Inspiratory Pressure (MIP). Significance: This study will provide high-level evidence on the utility of smart, device-guided respiratory training as a novel component of neurorehabilitation, potentially offering a more effective strategy to improve respiratory health and overall recovery in hemiplegic patients compared to standard breathing exercises.

"Breathlessness Diagnostics in a Box" (BiaB) for Primary Care. A Multi-country Quality Improvement Project Using a Randomized Stepped-wedge Design

This prospective stepped-wedge study evaluates whether use of the Breathlessness diagnostics in a Box (BiaB) tool shortens the time to diagnosis in patients presenting with breathlessness, compared with usual care. The study is conducted in general practice settings in the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal. Participating sites start with a usual care period and transition sequentially to the BiaB intervention period. Data are collected during routine clinical visits, from electronic medical records, and through questionnaires completed by patients and healthcare professionals.
