Beating Lung Cancer in Ohio Protocol in Improving Survival in Patients With Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
This randomized clinical trial studies the Beating Lung Cancer in Ohio protocol in improving survival in patients with stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. The Beating Lung Cancer in Ohio protocol may help in evaluating immunotherapies and targeted therapies that prolong survival, have more favorable toxicity profiles than conventional chemotherapy and impact quality of life.

S1403, Afatinib Dimaleate With or Without Cetuximab in Treating Patients With Newly Diagnosed Stage IV or Recurrent, EGFR Mutation Positive Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
This randomized phase II/III trial studies how well afatinib dimaleate with cetuximab works and compares it with afatinib dimaleate alone in treating patients with newly diagnosed stage IV or recurrent (has come back), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation positive non-small cell lung cancer. Afatinib dimaleate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Monoclonal antibodies, such as cetuximab, may block tumor growth in different ways by targeting certain cells. It is not yet known whether afatinib dimaleate is more effective when given alone or with cetuximab in treating patients with non-small cell lung cancer.

Peripheral Blood ETASTs for Predicting Efficacy of Chemoimmunotherapy in NSCLC
The goal of this observational study is to explore whether changes in peripheral blood effector tumor antigen-specific T cells (ETASTs) can predict treatment outcomes in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) receiving chemoimmunotherapy. The study aims to: * Evaluate the relationship between ΔETAST levels (baseline to cycle 2) and progression-free survival * Compare the predictive performance of ΔETASTs with traditional biomarkers (PD-L1, TMB) * Assess whether ΔETASTs can identify patients more likely to benefit from PD-1 inhibitor plus chemotherapy Participants will: * Provide peripheral blood samples at baseline and after cycle 2 of treatment * Undergo ETAST quantification using the CTT-NanoDT technology with TATAN nanoparticles * Have standard tumor assessments every 2 cycles according to RECIST 1.1 criteria * Be followed for progression-free survival and overall survival up to 24 months

Maintenance Chemotherapy With or Without Local Consolidative Therapy in Treating Patients With Stage IV Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
This randomized phase II/III trial studies how well giving maintenance chemotherapy with or without local consolidation therapy works in treating patients with stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. Drugs used in maintenance chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, pemetrexed disodium, erlotinib hydrochloride, and gemcitabine work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Local consolidation therapy such as radiation/stereotactic body radiation or surgery may kill cancer cells left after initial treatment. Giving maintenance chemotherapy and local consolidation therapy together may work better than maintenance chemotherapy alone in treating patients with stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.

Recombinant EphB4-HSA Fusion Protein With Standard Chemotherapy Regimens in Treating Patients With Advanced or Metastatic Solid Tumors
This pilot phase Ib trial studies the side effects and best dose of recombinant EphB4-HSA fusion protein when given together with standard chemotherapy regimens in treating patients with solid tumors that have spread to other places in the body and usually cannot be cured or controlled with treatment (advanced) or have spread to other places in the body (metastatic). Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as recombinant EphB4-HSA fusion protein, paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation, gemcitabine hydrochloride, docetaxel, and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. It is not yet known whether standard chemotherapy regimens are more effective with recombinant ephB4-HSA fusion protein in treating advanced or metastatic solid tumors.
