Simplified Exercise-based Risk Assessment in Lung Cancer
Physiological evaluation is part of the preoperative risk estimation in patients with lung cancer, and it aids in the choice of treatment. Ventilatory efficiency during exercise has emerged as a strong predictor of major postoperative complications, so far determined during a maximal cardiopulmonary exercise test. However, this test is limited by its availability and high cost, due to the requirement of high-technological equipment and advanced expertise. The current project aims to evaluate a simplified and accessible method for risk evaluation before decision on treatment in lung cancer. It builds on recent advances in technology and knowledge and combines a simple, low-intensity cycling test with measurement of ventilatory efficiency (end-tidal carbon dioxide pressure) with a handheld monitor. In a prospective, multi-center design the investigators will include patients evaluated for suspected lung cancer. The main objective is to establish threshold values for end-tidal carbon dioxide associated with low respectively high risk of major complications in patients undergoing surgery. In addition, the study aims to determine if end-tidal carbon dioxide can predict severe side-effects during neoadjuvant or curatively aiming systemic therapy. The project is closely linked to clinical practice, and the results can be easily implemented due to the simple and cost-efficient methodology. the suggested simplified approach would also allow access to physiological evaluation where more advanced methods are unavailable.

Postoperative Complications of Ankle Arthroscopy
The goal of this clinical trial is to describe complications that occurred in the year following surgery, based on follow-up surgical consultations and physical therapy sessions. The target population is any adult patient who has undergone ankle surgery performed under arthroscopy. Primary outcome is description of all complications occurring within one year following ankle arthroscopy. This description will be based on clinical and functional examinations performed by surgeons and physical therapists. Participants will be regularly monitored by the surgeon and physical therapist (15 days postoperative, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year). They will complete self-assessment questionnaires and undergo functional physical therapy tests, including ALR RSI, FAAM AVQ, FAAM Sport, CAIT, and Ankle Go.

IntraVenous Iron in Kids With Iron Deficiency and Scoliosis Study
Adolescents and young adults undergoing spinal fusion surgery for the correction of scoliosis and other spinal deformity are at high risk of perioperative iron deficiency and anemia, yet the means and evidence for optimizing iron status have not been described in this setting. The proposed study is a randomized controlled trial of preoperative intravenous iron supplementation, to identify whether iron deficiency is a modifiable risk factor for adverse surgical outcomes such as red blood cell transfusion and diminished postoperative cognitive and physical capacity in this vulnerable population. Building evidence for patient blood management interventions such as iron supplementation is vital to ensuring high quality care of surgical patients and may reduce unnecessary transfusions amid recent blood shortages.

Effects of GDHT (Goal Directed Hemodynamic Therapy) Using a Non-invasive Hemodynamic Monitoring in Elective Neurosurgery
This study aims to assess the safety and efficacy of GDHT using the non-invasive Starling™ SV System in elective neurosurgery. The tested group of patients (n=70) will be compared with a control group (n=70), where hemodynamic management will be guided by standard vital signs monitoring.
