RECRUITING

NCT07416149

Comparing PTeye-assisted Versus Conventional Total Thyroidectomy

This is a prospective, single-blinded, randomized controlled trial to evaluate whether PTeye™ can reduce post-operative hypoparathyroidism (PH). The study will enroll consecutive patients undergoing total thyroidectomy in a teritary endocrine surgery unit in Hong Kong, randomizing them into receiving conventional surgery versus PTeye™-assisted surgery. Subjects will be assigned to the two groups before surgery. Subjects will be under medical care as in usual practice.

RECRUITING

NCT06383091

Impact of Manual Therapy on Laryngeal Function Following Total Thyroidectomy

In this clinical trial, the investigators are seeking to learn if a course of voice therapy, including neck massage, stretches and pain science education in addition to voice exercise and scar massage will effectively treatment patient complaints of swallowing or voice changes after total thyroidectomy as compared to voice exercise and scar massage alone. The main questions it aims to answer are: Will neck massage, stretches and pain science education reduce patient complaints of swallowing changes after total thyroidectomy? Will neck massage, stretches and pain science education reduce patient complaints of voice changes after total thyroidectomy? Will neck massage, stretches and pain science education reduce patient complaints of scar tethering and quality changes after total thyroidectomy? Will neck massage, stretches and pain science education improve quality of life after total thyroidectomy? Participants will: Participate in 4 visits with the participant's endocrine/laryngology surgeon. One prior and 3 after surgery for endoscopic evaluation and tests. Participate in 5 Speech-Language Pathology Sessions for intervention exercises and tests. One prior and 4 after surgery. Complete a journal of the participant's Home Exercise Practice

NCT06909513

Impact of Travel Neck Pillow Use on Neck Comfort and Mobility After Thyroidectomy

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of U-shaped travel neck pillow use in improving cervical comfort, reducing neck pain and stiffness, and enhancing cervical range of motion in adults undergoing total thyroidectomy surgery. It is the first randomized controlled trial in Turkey to examine the use of a travel neck pillow as a non-pharmacological intervention during the immediate postoperative period (day 0). The study will be conducted at Erciyes University Gevher Nesibe Hospital between December 5, 2024 and June 5, 2025. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the pillow group or the control group. Those in the pillow group will use a U-shaped neck pillow for the first 24 hours after surgery while at rest. Outcomes will be assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain and comfort, the McGill Pain Questionnaire for pain localization and intensity, and goniometric measurements of cervical range of motion. Data will be collected preoperatively and at 24 hours postoperatively. This study is expected to provide clinical evidence supporting the use of travel neck pillows to improve postoperative comfort and mobility, offering a simple and cost-effective nursing intervention for thyroidectomy recovery.
