Enhanced Mentor Mother Strategy for Pregnant and Postpartum Women Living With HIV

Mentor Mothers (MMs) are peer supporters who help pregnant and postpartum women living with HIV (WLHIV) as they receive prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT) services in resource-limited settings like Kenya. Differentiated service delivery (DSD) is a care model that tailors services based on clients' needs, helping to improve both the quality and efficiency of care. This hybrid implementation-effectiveness study will test whether an enhanced MM strategy that uses DSD can be successfully carried out and improve health outcomes for mothers and infants. The study will take place at Burnt Forest Sub-District Hospital (BFSDH) in Kenya. Researchers will ask: * Can the enhanced MM strategy be delivered as planned and accepted by patients and staff? * Does the strategy improve clinical outcomes like keeping mothers in PMTCT care, achieving HIV viral suppression, completing infant HIV testing, and preventing HIV transmission to infants? Researchers will compare health outcomes before and after the strategy is introduced at BFSDH, and also compare outcomes at other similar clinics that continue with standard MM services. Women who choose to participate will meet with a MM during their routine antenatal and postnatal clinic visits. They will be offered the enhanced MM support, but can choose to receive standard care if they prefer.

Transmission of Oncogenic HPV Infection Among Families

The goal of the Transmission of Oncogenic HPV Infection Among Families (TREVINO) study is to improve understanding of how high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infections are transmitted within families. The research focuses on transmission between sexual partners and between parents and children. It also examines how the various microbes may influence the persistence of HPV infections and the development of HPV-related cancers. The study will include up to 300 couples recruited from gynecology and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) clinics in Finland, as well as their children. Participants include individuals with persistent HPV infection, cervical precancer or cancer, or HPV-related head and neck cancer, along with their partners and potentially their offspring. Participants will provide self-collected samples from the oral and genital areas at multiple time points over up to five years. Questionnaires addressing medical, behavioural, and environmental factors will be completed. The study is conducted at Tampere University Hospital and Kuopio University Hospital in Finland. Results will inform HPV screening and prevention programs, improve understanding of family-level transmission, and identify potential microbial and genetic markers linked to cancer risk.

Find HDV and Determine Its Status in Turkey

The aim of these study to determine the prevalence of hepatitis Delta virus (HDV) infections and the prognosis of HDV patients in Turkey's southeast. The investigators intend to arrange training sessions for 250 family physicians in Diyarbakir, Batman, Mardin, and Sanliurfa in order to determine those goals. The investigators will talk about diagnosing hepatitis B virus (HBV), HDV, hepatitis C virus (HCV), and Human Immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections during these events. To ensure that patients with simultaneous HDV infection are evaluated for HIV/HCV and to detect liver fibrosis with a non-invasive method.
