3D Transcranial Ultrasound Brain Imaging (3D-TRUBI) Instrument for Point-of-Care Diagnosis of Intracranial Hemorrhages

The primary objective of this study is to assess the safety of the 3D Transcranial Ultrasound Brain Imaging (3D TRUBI) device in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) patients with intracranial hemorrhage (ICH). The secondary objective is to assess the diagnostic potential of 3D TRUBI. The latter will be achieved by comparison of 3D TRUBI scans with admission head computed tomography (CT), the standard of care diagnostic modality. Demonstrating the feasibility and safety of the 3D TRUBI system is the first step toward expanding access of an alternative to CT for diagnostic imaging and triage of mass casualties of war or natural disasters in the field and in rapidly deployed medical centers or other austere environments.

Applications of Ultrasound and Physical Parameters in Assessing Fall Risk in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis

Falls are a significant issue for patients with knee osteoarthritis, as they can lead to hospitalization or even more severe consequences. Therefore, it is crucial to assess fall risk early in rehabilitation clinics. Sarcopenia, which is the reduction of muscle mass, increases the risk of falls. This study involved 250 adults with knee osteoarthritis, using a technology called POCUS to assess muscle mass, combined with other tests to track fall incidents over three months. The study is expected to find correlations between falls and factors like muscle mass and grip strength. This information can help doctors better predict which patients are at risk of falling and take preventive measures early. Future research will explore the effectiveness of different prevention strategies.

Exploring the Correlations of Lung Ultrasound with Delirium and Outcomes in Acute GEriatrics World: a Multicenter, Prospective, Observational Study from the GRETA Group of the Italian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics

The purpose of this observational study is to investigate the prognostic relevance of lung ultrasound (LUS) performed on older patients (aged 65 and above) admitted to the hospital with acute respiratory symptoms. The primary objective is to determine if LUS-detected pulmonary abnormalities upon hospital admission are associated with the development of delirium during hospitalization. Secondary objectives include assessing the association between LUS patterns and clinical outcomes such as oxygen supplementation duration, non-invasive ventilation use, mortality, and length of hospital stay. This study involves no interventions and will monitor patients using LUS as part of their regular clinical care in multiple centers.
