Comparison of Four Different Methods Used To Relieve Postoperarive Thirst-Related Discomforts

Summary

This study was conducted to compare four different methods applied to relieve thirst-related discomfort after surgery. The study is a prospective, randomized controlled, experimental research conducted at Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University Health Practice and Research Center General Surgery Clinic. The study took place between November 2022 and April 2023. 150 patients divided into control and intervention groups were included. The study aimed to investigate the effects of four different methods of quenching thirst after surgery on patient outcomes. Data collection tools include Patient Introduction and Follow-up Form, Numerical Verbal Scale (0 10) to measure thirst intensity, Safe Protocol for the Management of Early Post-Operative Thirst, Surgical Period Thirst-Related Discomfort Scale (CDSBRÖ), Perianesthesia Comfort Scale (PCS) and satisfaction level. Numerical Verbal Scale (0-10) was used to determine. The focus of the data study between groups was on postoperative thirst management, patient comfort, and satisfaction with different interventions. The significance level of 0.05 was taken as the criterion in interpreting the results.

Group 1: 5 ml slush slush (30 people)
