Effects of Online and App-Based Prenatal Yoga on Birth Outcomes
Sponsor: Vasviye Eroğlu
Summary
This randomized controlled trial evaluated the effects of a midwife-led digital prenatal yoga intervention via the MIDWIFEYOGA mobile application on birth and neonatal outcomes among 74 primiparous women. The intervention group practiced yoga twice weekly for 45 minutes using the application, alongside one weekly online session. Results showed that the intervention group experienced significantly lower rates of labor induction and analgesia use, shorter labor duration, reduced pain, and higher birth satisfaction. Additionally, neonatal birth weights, Apgar scores, and early breastfeeding assessment scores were significantly improved. A midwife-led digital prenatal yoga program provides an accessible, non-pharmacological approach to reducing obstetric interventions, enhancing birth satisfaction, and supporting positive early neonatal outcomes.

Interventions
Online and App-Based Prenatal Yoga
A six-week prenatal yoga program combining one researcher-led online session per week with two self-directed EBEYOGA application sessions per week. The program included pregnancy-adapted breathing exercises, yoga postures, and relaxation or meditation. After the six-week online program, participants continued application-based practice until birth. During labor, application-supported postures and breathing exercises were used when clinically appropriate. Practice was monitored through online attendance and application reports.
