Binaural Beat Music, Virtual Reality, and Hormones in Childbirth

This study aims to investigate the effects of Binaural Beats-supported music and virtual reality experience on the levels of oxytocin, prolactin, catecholamine, endorphin, prostaglandin E and cortisol, which are hormones that play an active role in birth, using the Elisa method. Additionally, the study will examine the effects of virtual reality experience and Binaural Beats-supported music during labor on labor pain and some birth outcomes (such as the presence of an episiotomy, the onset of labor, the duration of labor, and the newborn Apgar score).The randomized controlled study will consist of three groups: a virtual reality group, a Binaural Beats-supported music group, and a control group. The research will be completed with a total of 90 people, with 30 people in each group. The research will be conducted at the Maternity Ward of Istanbul Gaziosmanpaşa Training and Research Hospital. Ethics committee approval has been received for the research. Data collection has not yet begun. An application has been made to the hospital administration for institutional permission. The research will begin once the permissions are received.

The Impact of Virtual Doula Services on Birth Outcomes in Rural Communities

This study will assess the impact of virtual doula care on birth and postnatal outcomes among rural mothers. The goal of virtual doula services is to improve access to care in underserved communities and decrease urban-rural differences in key maternal health outcomes including mode of birth (cesarean vs vaginal) and birth satisfaction. By implementing a digital randomized controlled trial, the study team will efficiently recruit a national sample of rural pregnant women to provide evidence of the effectiveness of virtual doula care, the appropriateness of virtual visits for different care and support needs, and the role of virtual care in improving maternal health.

Combined Intravenous Tramadol and Paracetamol Versus Intramuscular Pethidine for Pain Relief During the First Stage of Labor. Compare the Efficacy and Adverse Effects

The goal of this intervention study is to compare the efficacy and adverse effects of pain relief during the first stage of labor using 75 mg IM pethidine versus the combination of IV 100 mg tramadol and 1000 mg paracetamol. The investigator assume that the combination of IV tramadol and paracetamol will be more effective with less adverse effects than IM pethidine in pain relief at the first stage of labor. The investigator primary outcome is The effect on pain relief according to numeric rating scale (NTS) in the study groups Before the administration of the drugs, fetal heart rate patterns and contractions will be recorded with cardiotocography monitor for at least 20 min. The investigator will evaluate vigilance at 30 minutes following drug administration. NRS pain score (0-10) will be collected before administration and one hour after drug administration

Birth & Breastfeeding Support Study

The goal of this observational study is to learn about the effects of birth practices such as cesarean section and vacuum assisted birth and diseases such as gestational diabetes and preeclampsia on exclusive breastfeeding. The main question it aims to answer is: • Does cesarean section, vacuum assisted birth, gestational diabetes and preeclampsia affect exclusive breastfeeding three months after birth? Participants answer eight online survey questions. One survey is distributed before birth and the remaining seven surveys are distributed after birth at three, seven and four-teen days, as well as one, three, six and twelve months after birth.

Effect of Snoezelen Room on Birth Process

Aromatherapy, visual and auditory stimuli are used together in the Snoezelen room. Aromatherapy increases the production of endorphins, reduces the intensity of pain and distracts the attention from the pain. Music also blocks the transmission of nerve impulses to the spinal cord.Considering these effects, the study emerges as a new technology for the midwifery field in our country. Although the use of snoezelen rooms in the delivery environment is becoming increasingly widespread abroad, it has not been used in delivery services in any hospital in our country. The primary purpose of this study is to convert a room in the delivery room of the hospital into a Snoezelen room and have women complete their delivery process in this room, and the secondary purpose is to determine the effect of the Snoezelen room on the delivery process. The primiparous pregnant women selected for the intervention and control groups will be informed about the purpose of the study and the applications by the research midwife or gynecologist following the birth and will be administered the "Pregnant Information Form", "Visual Analog Scale (VAS)", "Fear of Childbirth Scale", "Birth Comfort Scale", and after birth, the "Birth Information Form", "Birth Satisfaction Scale". The Beta Endorphin Level Recording Form will be filled out.

The Effect of Using Peanuts Balls at Birth

The necessity of applying the research on humans, whether the application has been done in our country or in other countries before, if it has been done, additional data expected from this study or differences from this study from others, and the expected benefits, please explain within the framework of scientific data. With this planned study, it is aimed to increase the activities of pregnant women during birth by using peanut balls during the birth process, to support the pregnant women psychologically, to reduce labor pains, to shorten the duration of normal birth, to increase self-efficacy for normal birth, to reduce cesarean section rates, to increase labor satisfaction, to reduce fear of birth, to expand the pelvic diameter, to stretch the pelvic muscles and to provide positive gains on connective tissues. With this planned study, it is aimed to reduce labor pain, to shorten the duration of labor and to increase the self-efficacy of the pregnant women for vaginal birth by using peanut balls during the birth process and benefiting from the stated benefits. When the literature review was done, it was determined that partial studies were conducted on the effect of peanut balls on birth in Turkey and in the world, and it was determined that peanut balls are not used in delivery rooms in Turkey despite having many benefits on birth. This study aims to pioneer the widespread use of peanut balls in Turkey. This study was planned to determine the effect of using peanut balls on labor duration, perceived labor pain and self-efficacy in primiparous pregnant women with a cervical dilation of 4 cm and above, in line with the vaginal birth plan. The aim of the planned study is to evaluate the effect of changing position with peanut balls during labor on perceived labor pain, labor duration and self-efficacy levels for normal birth. The hypotheses of the study proposed for this purpose are; H1: Labor pain, duration and self-efficacy of pregnant women who use peanut balls during labor are different from the control group. H2: Perceived labor pain decreases in pregnant women who use peanut balls during labor compared to the control group. H3: The duration of labor (the time period from the active phase to the completion of the transition phase) is shortened in pregnant women who use peanut balls during labor compared to the control group. H4: The duration of labor (the second stage of labor) is shortened in pregnant women who use peanut balls during labor compared to the control group. H5: Using peanut balls during birth increases the self-efficacy level in pregnant women compared to the control group. The peanut ball will be applied in 6 different positions. These positions will consist of side-lying positions, half-sitting pose, forward bending pose and squatting positions. The positions to be applied are planned as in-bed. Pregnant women will be informed about the positions to be applied. The peanut ball will be applied for 20-25 minutes and a 5-10 minute break will be given. The introductory and obstetric information form will be filled out once for each patient. The partograph will be started with the start of the peanut ball use and will end with the end of labor. The visual comparison scale (VAS) and the self-efficacy scale for normal labor will be used 3 times in this study. It will be applied when the dilation is 4 cm and below before the application, immediately after the peanut ball application and half an hour after the peanut ball application.
