Evaluation of a Novel Insulin Sensitizer in People With Type 1 Diabetes

The purpose of this study is to see if the study drug CIR-0602K will improve glucose time-in-range and/or lower total daily insulin dose in people with type 1 diabetes who are using closed-loop automated insulin delivery. Researchers will compare CIR-0602K to a placebo (a look-alike substance that contains no drug) to see if it achieves the investigational endpoints. If the study results show that the drug works to increase time-in-range and lower insulin doses, this will lead to further studies which may then make the drug available to the public.

Injection Ports vs Single-Use Needles for Insulin in Pregnancy: Effects on Adherence and Satisfaction

This study wants to find out if using an injection port to give insulin during pregnancy helps people take their insulin more regularly and feel better about their care. When someone has diabetes during pregnancy, it's very important to keep their blood sugar levels in a healthy range. This usually means checking blood sugar often and giving insulin through shots. But giving many shots each day can be hard and uncomfortable. An injection port is a small device placed on the skin that lets patients give insulin through the same spot without poking themselves each time. This may make taking insulin easier and less painful. Feeling comfortable with how insulin is given may help people stick to their treatment plan and have better health during pregnancy. Injection ports have already helped other patients, including pregnant people who needed other medications, but they haven't been studied for insulin use during pregnancy. This study will look at how pregnant patients with diabetes feel about using injection ports for insulin.

Assessing the Value of Avocados on Glycemic Control in Type 2 Diabetes

The objective of this study is to assess the effects of Hass Avocados on glycemic control. The investigators hypothesize that Hass Avocado consumption will reduce fasting blood sugar compared to an isocaloric amount of other fruit during controlled feeding.

Semi-closed Loop Automated Insulin Therapy in the Pediatric Population Aged 2-6 Years With Type 1 Diabetes: Impact on Quality of Life and Glycemic Control

The incidence of type 1 diabetes is increasing, with an incidence of +4% per year in France today. The treatment for type 1 diabetes is insulin therapy. In recent years, new systems have emerged, so-called "semi-closed loop" systems, also called automated insulin therapy, which have proven their superiority in terms of quality of life and glycemic balance in adults and children over 6 years old. Since January 24, 2024, the HAS now recognizes the indication of the semi-closed loop for the YPSOPUMP model in children aged 2 to 6 years. This is the first reimbursement in France of a closed loop system for the 2-6 year old age group. There are currently few studies comparing the quality of life of children in semi-closed loop versus other treatments (open loop or injections). Regarding quality of life, the studies found mainly concern the contribution for parents and the improvement of adolescents' sleep as in the study by Erin C Cobry et al from 2020 (6). Our study therefore aims to demonstrate an improvement in quality of life but also in diabetes balance in type 1 diabetic patients on a closed loop insulin pump versus open loop or injections in the pediatric population aged 2-6 years.

Music Effect on the Self-Injection, Testing Fear and Pain

Diabetes is a chronic and broad-spectrum metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia that occurs due to relative or absolute insulin deficiency or "insulin resistance" developed against insulin action in peripheral tissues, affecting many organs and causing multisystem involvement. Metabolic function continues to deteriorate after diagnosis, leading to worsening glycemic control and insulin therapy becoming necessary. However, patients may have difficulty adhering to insulin therapy. Fears about injections are common in both adults and children and, as research shows, are a major reason why people with diabetes avoid taking insulin. Addressing these fears is an important part of helping patients reduce their risk of diabetes-related complications. Helping patients manage their replacement pain may help reduce the effects of needle fear in the future. There are a number of strategies that can ease the pain. The use of music in pain management has advantages such as being reliable, cheap, and having no side effects, as well as reducing postoperative pain reports. Music distracts the individual from negative stimuli and allows them to focus on something they enjoy, thus reducing pain and anxiety. Music therapy has also been shown to have sedative-protective effects and reduce stress hormone levels. Listening to preferred music can distract and reduce the pain and negative emotions associated with an unpleasant experience.

Microneedling With Regular Insulin Versus Microneedling Alone in Treatment of Atrophic Scars

Recently, few studies have attempted to test the regenerative effects of human insulin application by microneedling on atrophic scars versus other topical preparations. However, the scars were limited etiologically to acne scars. In addition, a lack of inclusion of a control group instead of comparing topical preparations with insulin was also a limitation to these studies. A control group consisting of microneedling alone would have served as a better comparison in order to determine whether the effects of microneedling are augmented by topical protein-rich preparations.
