Muscle Cramps in Hemodialysis Patients: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Muscle cramps are a common and distressing issue among hemodialysis patients, significantly impacting their quality of life. Non-pharmacological approaches are increasingly being explored to alleviate these symptoms. Massage therapy and progressive muscle relaxation exercises are among the interventions that may help reduce the frequency and severity of cramps by promoting muscle relaxation. However, their effectiveness in hemodialysis patients has not been sufficiently studied. This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effects of massage and progressive muscle relaxation exercises on the frequency and severity of muscle cramps in hemodialysis patients. The findings are expected to contribute to evidence-based practices in symptom management.

Mobile Application-Assisted Pressure Injury Management

Pressure injuries develop due to decreased movement, especially in bedridden individuals receiving home care. In Turkey, the management of pressure injuries is carried out by nurses in acute and long-term care settings, and mostly by caregivers for individuals receiving home care. Studies have shown that individuals providing home care have a significant need for training. Today, digital health technologies are used to facilitate access to healthcare professionals and provide workload and cost efficiency. Telehealth services in these technologies can be provided via telephone or mobile applications. In this context, the aim of the study is to examine the effect of nursing services provided via mobile applications on the management of pressure injuries in individuals receiving home care. The study was designed as a randomized controlled experimental type. In the power analysis conducted to calculate the sample size, the sample size was determined as 56, and considering that there may be data losses, 60 people will be included in the study. The "Structured Information Form, Pressure Injury Information Form for Caregivers, Pressure Injury Skill Checklist for Caregivers, and Pressure Injury Follow-up Form" will be used as data collection tools in the study. In this study, it is thought that the nurse's remote monitoring of individuals receiving home care with a mobile application in the management of pressure injuries will contribute to patient safety and care costs.

Flipped Learning Model on the Stoma Care

This study is planned as a randomized controlled trial to determine the effect of education provided through the flipped learning model on students' levels of knowledge and self-efficacy regarding stoma care. The research will be conducted on 100 first-year nursing students between 05.2024-06.2024. Randomization will be ensured for students who meet the inclusion criteria, and they will be divided into two random groups: the experimental group (n=50) and the control group (n=50). All participating students will be administered the "Introductory Characteristics Form," "Stoma Care Knowledge Assessment Form (pre-test)," and "General Self-Efficacy Scale (pre-test)." For students in the experimental group, digital materials required for preparedness for the course based on the flipped learning model (such as course presentation materials and demonstration videos) will be prepared by the researchers. After the implementation and 4 weeks later, the 'Stoma Care Knowledge Assessment Form (post-test)' and the 'General Self-Efficacy Scale (post-test)' will be administered online. All students in the control group will be administered the 'Introductory Characteristics Form,' the 'Stoma Care Knowledge Assessment Form (pre-test),' and the 'General Self-Efficacy Scale (pre-test).' Subsequently, stoma care will be provided to the control group solely through traditional teaching methods. No additional resources will be provided. After the implementation and 4 weeks later, the 'Stoma Care Knowledge Assessment Form (post-test)' and the 'General Self-Efficacy Scale (post-test)' will be administered online.

The Effect of Artificial Intelligence Supported and Nurse-Led Online Breastfeeding Counseling

Breastfeeding is the gold standard in infant nutrition in the first 12 months of life (1). Breastfeeding self-efficacy perception is one of the most important factors affecting mothers\' breastfeeding duration and success in the postpartum period (2,3).Although AI has traditionally been the domain of powerful mainframes and data centers, new approaches have the capacity to put the power of AI directly into the hands of patients (4).Therefore, considering the importance of breastfeeding education and counseling, this study will determine the effect of training and use of a mobile application-supported artificial intelligence tool and nurse-led online breastfeeding counseling on mothers; breastfeeding self-efficacy perception, breastfeeding success, infant feeding attitude and postpartum depression levels. Thus, the effectiveness of the artificial intelligence tool and nurse-led breastfeeding counseling will be compared.

Effect of Training on the Use of Physical Restraints

Patients in the intensive care unit may harm themselves by pulling medical equipment such as endotracheal tube, monitoring, arterial and peripheral catheters. Physical detection is also one of the common practices used in this case. Physical restraint is a practice performed by using patient aids to protect the individual or other patients around him, to ensure his safety and to control his behavior. Although physical detection seems to be a useful and simple method, it brings with it various physical, psychological, ethical, legal and moral problems. Nurses should use alternative strategies to prevent and reduce the use of restraint, and to avoid the negative consequences that may be caused by restraint by performing restraint appropriately and effectively, and thus ensure the safety of the patient. Evaluating nurses' knowledge on this subject, identifying deficiencies and providing training is important in terms of improving the quality of care and ensuring patient safety.

Effect of Rational Drug Education on the Attitudes of Parents of Hospitalized Children

In this project, it was aimed to determine the effect of the rational drug management training program on parents' attitudes towards rational drug use. The project is designed as a randomized controlled study and will consist of experimental and control groups. An education program on rational drug use will be applied to the parents in the experimental group. The originality of this project is the evaluation of the effect of the education program on rational drug use applied to parents whose children are hospitalized. Although studies on rational drug use in parents have increased in recent years, most of them consist of descriptive studies aimed at evaluating knowledge and attitudes towards rational drug use. It seems that the number of intervention studies on rational drug use in parents is limited. No intervention studies aimed at the rational drug use attitudes of parents whose children are hospitalized have been found. This study has the feature of revealing the effectiveness of the rational drug use education program to be applied to parents in cases of illness and hospitalization where the importance of rational drug use becomes evident.

Simulation-based Training for Nurses and Arteriovenous Fistula Puncture in Chronic Hemodialysis Patients

Currently, the technique of arteriovenous fistula puncture is transmitted by companionship within hemodialysis units. Although the main principles of the technique are well known and common to all hemodialysis units, strong rationales are still lacking to standardize fine practices such as the relative position of the needles, the angle of attack of the needle at puncture, the position of the bevel at the time of puncture and once the needle is in the vascular lumen. The training of professionals using a simulation-based training program on the approach to arteriovenous fistula puncture, in a process of optimizing practices and continuous improvement of care, while respecting the principles of andragogy, seems to be a suitable tool. This program is built in a multi-professional team from nephrology, nursing and health simulation.
