Hyaluronic Acid as an Adjunct to Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy in Smokers
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate whether hyaluronic acid (HA) improves periodontal healing in people with periodontal disease who smoke. Moreover, the effects of HA on biomolecules and bacteria levels will be assesed during the follow up period. The main questions it will answer are: Will periodontal sites treated with HA gel after non-surgical periodontal treatment (NSPT) lead to better outcomes in clinical parameters compared to the sites treated with NSPT only in smokers? Will adjunctive use of HA gel reduce oxidative stress markers and bacteria levels during follow-up? Researchers will compare periodontal sites receiving NSPT with adjunctive HA gel application to sites receiving NSPT alone to determine whether HA provides additional clinical, biochemical and microbiological benefits. Participants will: * first receive full-mouth NSPT then, randomization will be performed in selected jaw to determine the test sites. These two interproximal test sites will additionally receive HA gel application. * attend follow-up visits at 1, 3 and 6 months for clinical periodontal measurements and to provide gingival crevicular fluid samples (GCF) and subgingival samples. The GCF samples will be evaluted for Metallothionein (MT) and 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) levels and subgingival samples for periodontal pathogens.

Salivary Microbiota and Antimicrobial Resistance in Relation to Chlorhexidine Use
This study evaluated the ecological effects of 0.06% chlorhexidine toothpaste on the salivary microbiota of healthy individuals, focusing on taxonomic composition, functional shifts, and prevalence of predicted antimicrobial resistance genes. Saliva samples were collected from eleven healthy participants at three specific time points: baseline (following a 4-week run-in period using a control toothpaste), intervention (after 12 weeks of using 0.06% chlorhexidine digluconate toothpaste), and washout (after a subsequent 12-week period using the control toothpaste). Sequencing targeted the 16S rRNA V3-V4 region.

Expanded Studies on the SCAPIS Stockholm Reexamination Cohort
The Swedish CArdioPulmonary bioImage Study (SCAPIS) is a unique, large-scale national research initiative involving 30,000 randomly selected individuals aged 50-64, recruited between 2014 and 2018. The study is a collaborative effort among six university hospitals across Sweden. A follow-up study, SCAPIS 2, is conducted for half of the original participants. In Stockholm, 2,500 individuals will be re-examined at Danderyd University Hospital and Karolinska Institutet. SCAPIS 2 includes a core set of examinations involving blood sampling, questionnaires, and imaging. In addition to these, complementary local investigations are conducted to enable more detailed research questions. This protocol describes the additional studies conducted in the Stockholm cohort. All complementary assessments aim to identify risk factors for current and future lung, liver, and cardiovascular diseases.: EXTENDED SAMPLING: Saliva and Blood Samples with Blood Cell Isolation. EXTENDED QUESTIONNAIRES: Dyspnea, Sleep, Respiratory Infections, and Dental Health. EXTENDED IMAGING AND PHYSIOLOGICAL MEASUREMENTS Cardiac Ultrasound and Abdominal Aortic Measurements. Liver Elastography. Vascular Stiffness by cuff-based pulse wave analysis and Photoplethysmography (PPG). Valvular and Vascular Calcification by CT imaging.

Lactoferrin-Based Oral Care for Periodontal Health in Pregnancy
This randomized controlled clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a lactoferrin-based oral hygiene protocol in improving periodontal health during pregnancy. Forty pregnant women between the fourth and eighth month of gestation will be enrolled and randomly assigned to one of two groups. The trial group will undergo professional dental cleaning every three months and will perform home oral hygiene using both a lactoferrin-based toothpaste and a lactoferrin-based mouthwash (Emoform Glic) twice daily. The control group will follow the same schedule of professional dental cleanings but will use only the lactoferrin-based toothpaste (Emoform Glic) at home. The primary objective is to assess the reduction in dental plaque, measured by the Plaque Index (PI). Secondary outcomes include improvements in gingival inflammation, probing pocket depth, clinical attachment level, and other periodontal indices. Participants will be followed for six months, with evaluations conducted at baseline, 1, 3, and 6 months.

The Characteristics of Oral Microbiota in Chronic Pancreatitis and Autoimmune Pancreatitis
There are more than 700 different bacteria colonized in human oral cavity, which are collectively referred to as oral microbiota. Emerging evidence suggests that oral microbiota plays a series of important roles in human health, such as immune response, carcinogen metabolism and nutrient digestion. The changes of oral microbiota composition are closely related to the occurrence and development of pancreatic diseases. Previous studies have found that there are dense bacterial biofilms in the pancreatic duct of patients with calcified pancreatitis, including oral bacterial types. However, most studies only focused on the changes of gut microbiota in patients with chronic pancreatitis, and there were lack of research and description on the changes of oral microbiota in patients with chronic pancreatitis. In this study, we will extract and sequence bacterie's full-length 16S rRNA to describe the characteristics of oral microbiota in patients with chronic pancreatitis, confirming that there are changes in oral microbiota in patients with chronic pancreatitis, and compare the differences of oral microbiota in patients with chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer and autoimmune pancreatitis.

Microbiota Profiles in Newly Married Couples: Potential Effects on Vision, Sleep and Psychometric Parameters
Oral, fecal and conjunctival samples will be collected from participants and will be stored (at - 20 and - 80 ◦C) until further processing. On Day 1 and Day 2, all couples will participate in an oral, conjunctival and gut microbiota composition study. Optometry examinations will be completed for each participant Three and Six months later, oral, conjunctival and gut microbiota composition will be analyzed again with the same protocol. The participants will complete a validated Persian version of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Inventory (PSQI), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), global sleep assessment questionnaire (GSAQ) and Ocular Surface Disease Index. Consecutive couples will undergo a standard ophthalmology exam and specific assessments for dry eye, including non-anesthetic Schirmer's test and fluorescein tear break-up time on Day 1 and Day 90.

Clinical and Microbiological Approach in Orthopedic Treatment of Patients When Choosing a Structural Material
Today, there is a wide range of structural materials on the market, different in chemical, physical and biological properties, and information about them is very often limited only by the manufacturer's instructions, which allows to determine, at best, only the scope. In this regard, there are difficulties in choosing the optimal material for this particular situation, since without a thorough approach to studying the properties of the main materials used in dentistry, it seems difficult to provide high-quality dental care, the result of which is functional usefulness, aesthetics and durability.The problem of an individual approach to the choice of structural material from the standpoint of personalized medicine is even less studied - there are no data in the literature on the role of normal and pathogenic microflora in the development of destructive changes in structures and the development of complications, taking into account a personalized approach when analyzing the composition of the microbiota of the oral cavity, biochemical parameters of the oral fluid, blood depending on the material from which the structure is made.
