The Preventive and Therapeutic Effects of Spirulina Preparations on Ulcers of Oral Mucosa

This is a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of spirulina supplementation in patients with radiation-induced oral mucositis (RIOM) receiving radiotherapy for head and neck cancer. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either spirulina tablets or placebo in addition to standard oral care during radiotherapy. The primary objective is to determine whether spirulina reduces the severity of oral mucositis. Secondary outcomes include the incidence and duration of severe oral mucositis, oral pain, nutritional status, quality of life, treatment interruption, and adverse events. The findings of this study may provide evidence for an effective and safe adjunctive intervention to improve the management of radiation-induced oral mucositis and enhance the quality of life of patients undergoing radiotherapy.

Improving Prescribing Quality for Oral Mucosal Disorders Using a Pharmacist-Led Model

This study aims to improve how oral mucosal disorders-such as oral lichen planus, recurrent aphthous stomatitis, burning mouth syndrome, herpes viral infection and oral candidiasis-are treated in dental settings. A pharmacist will work with dentists to review prescriptions, provide feedback, counsel patients, and monitor medication safety. Dental clinics will be assigned to either the pharmacist-led model or usual care. The study will evaluate whether this approach improves prescribing quality, patient adherence, symptom control, and safety. The findings may help establish a more standardized, effective way to manage these common oral conditions in routine dental practice.

A Study on Sumac Mouth Rinse for Treating Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis

This randomized controlled clinical study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a Sumac mouth rinse in the management of recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS). In addition to assessing clinical improvement in ulcer healing and pain reduction, biochemical analysis will be performed by measuring serum TNF-α levels to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of Sumac.

Effect of Zinc Oxide Ointment on Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis

Salivary E-cadherin, Calprotectin, and Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 Levels in Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis

The goal of this observational cross-sectional study is to determine the salivary levels of E-cadherin, Calprotectin, and Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in patients with Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis (RAS) and to compare them with those of healthy controls. The main questions it aims to answer are: Are the salivary levels of E-cadherin, Calprotectin, and MMP-9 significantly different in patients with minor RAS compared to healthy controls? Can these salivary proteins serve as biomarkers involved in the pathogenesis of minor RAS? Researchers will compare patients with minor RAS and healthy individuals to determine whether differences in salivary E-cadherin, Calprotectin, and MMP-9 levels are associated with the presence of disease. Participants will: Provide unstimulated saliva samples using a saliva swab Undergo clinical evaluation for periodontal status (Community Periodontal Index - CPI) and caries experience (DMFT index) Collected saliva samples will be stored at -80°C until analysis. The concentrations of the investigated proteins will be measured using ELISA kits, and total protein levels will be determined using a colorimetric protein assay. The relationships among the salivary concentrations of the investigated proteins, as well as their associations with demographic variables such as age and sex, will be analyzed.
