Evaluation of CAD/CAM Onlays Fabricated by Subtractive Versus Additive Digital Manufacturing Techniques.
Aim of the study: The aim of this RCT is to evaluate CAD/CAM onlays fabricated by subtractive technique (brilliant crios) versus additive technique (varseosmile crown plus material), in terms of clinical functional evaluation following the FDI criteria and three-dimensional digital evaluation of the marginal and internal fit by triple scan protocol. Materials and methods: A total of 30 patients will be enrolled in the clinical trial following the eligibility criteria. Then, the patients will be randomly allocated to receive either 3D printed onlays or milled ones. A blinded operator will prepare a standardized cavity for the restoration and an impression will be performed. After designing the restoration on the Exocad software, A dentist not involved in the clinical part of the study will receive the STL file of the design and envelopes containing the information necessary only to manufacture the restorations (tooth numbers and restorative materials) to proceed with either the milling or printing procedures. Try in and cementation procedures will be similarly performed for both groups by a blinded operator. Finally, the marginal and internal fit will be evaluated by using the triple scan protocol for digital 3D assessment. Also, a baseline, six months and 12 months assessments will be performed by a blinded examiner, not involved in the clinical part for assessing the functional clinical performance of the re3stprations using the FDI criteria. Finally, the data will be statistically analyzed.

Efficacy of a Chitosan Dressing in Pulpotomy of Immature Permanent Teeth
Immature permanent teeth, also known as young permanent teeth, are used to describe teeth with incomplete root formation. Immature permanent teeth are prone to caries and trauma which can cause exposure and degeneration of pulp. Pulp degeneration stops root formation, leaving teeth with open apex. It is vital to preserve the pulp vitality otherwise the incompletion of root might result in the fragility of teeth. Pulpotomy is one of the most widely used methods in preserving vital pulp in teeth, which is of great significance in achieving continue root formation in immature permanent teeth suffering from dental caries or trauma. Pulpotomy is recommended by the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry for the management of pulp exposure in immature permanent teeth to achieve apexogenesis (continued root formation and closure of apex). In this procedure, coronal pulp tissue is removed in order to eliminate the infected or contaminated pulp and to reach the healthy vital pulp followed by coverage with biocompatible material.

Birth to Three - Cavity Free
Early childhood caries (ECC) is a potentially painful and debilitating disease, which represents a significant public health problem among young children. There are profound disparities in ECC experiences such that children from minority and low-income families suffer a disproportionate share of the disease burden. The likelihood of parents of high-ECC risk young children seeking prevention in dental facilities is low; therefore, there is a need to increase preventive dental opportunities where these children already seek health care services. In particular, there is an urgent need to develop and evaluate ECC behavioral interventions for use in public health settings attended by high-risk children. Many authors recommend early implementation of oral health education as one means of preventing ECC. However, major issues discussed in the oral health promotion literature involve a lack of effectiveness among programs based on education alone, as well as a lack of high quality preventive interventions using evidence-based psychological and behavioral strategies. Our research team has been the first to introduce to the ECC prevention arena the self-determination theory (SDT) of motivation, internalization, and healthy functioning, proven effective in promoting positive behavioral changes in several other fields, including oral health care. The investigators have demonstrated that SDT has great promise as a motivational approach by providing evidence, based on results from our R21 (R21-DE016483) study, of the effectiveness of SDT in changing several desirable oral health behaviors for ECC prevention. Building upon the rigor of our previous experience and formative research work in the past several years, the investigators propose a Stage II NIH Model research project that will compare the efficacy of autonomy-supportive videotaped oral health messages framed by SDT to more traditional neutral videotaped messages. The investigators intend to recruit 634 pregnant mothers enrolled in Iowa Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Programs and follow them until their future child is 36 months old. The primary outcome of interest will be children's caries status. Secondary outcomes will be changes in children's oral health behaviors conducive to better oral hygiene and dietary habits, as well as lower levels of dental plaque and mutans streptococci.

Evaluation of Different Cementation Materials Used in Prefabricated Pediatric Zirconia Crowns
Today, with increasing aesthetic demands; the need for materials that are both durable and compatible with the appearance of natural teeth is increasing in paediatric dentistry. Prefabricated zirconium crowns have attracted significant interest in recent years because they meet aesthetic expectations and have offer mechanical strength. There are various traditional and contemporary cement options that can be used for cementation of crowns. The aim of this study is to clinically evaluate prefabricated zirconia crowns cemented to the primary maxillary incisors with three different adhesive cements in terms of periodantal health, plaque accumulation, opposing tooth wear, parental satisfaction, color harmony, retention, marginal integrity and contact compatibility, at the 1-week, 3-month, 6-month, 12-month follow-ups.

Surface Caries Feature Study
Dental caries (dental cavity) is very common and can impact oral health and oral health-related quality of life. Dental caries is when the tooth surfaces break down, and if left untreated, can cause tooth pain. In routine clinical practice, dental professionals typically assess caries lesions by looking at patients' teeth, touching the areas of interest with a dental probe, and running a probe over the teeth to check the buildup of bacteria. Dentists often use x-rays to help find cavities, and they can also take pictures of the teeth to show what the problem looks like. New tools called intraoral scanners are becoming more useful for finding cavities. These scanners do not use radiation and do not hurt. Some computer programs that use artificial intelligence (AI) can also help dentists find cavities. AI can study the spots on patients' teeth and help make better, faster decisions. The purpose of this study is to collect data that will be used to develop and test an AI software that can help dentists in the detection of caries.

Ozone Application Before Fissure Sealants
Decay is a multifactorial infective degenerative disease of hard dental tissues, caused by Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus forming the bacterial biofilm of teeth surfaces. Decays generally evolve in fissures and pits of secondary molars. Pits and fissure sealants prevent decays if performed in two years from eruption. Ozone has bactericidal effect and remineralizing capacity on enamel. The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of ozone application before sealants in increasing their duration in time.

Comparative Evaluation of SMART Hall Technique Vs. Conventional SS Crown in Primary Molars: a Randomized Clinical Trial
Dental caries, particularly in primary molars, significantly affects children's oral health and overall well-being. Traditional management with stainless steel crowns (SSCs) involves significant tooth reduction and advanced dental skills. Introduced in the 1970s, the Hall technique offers a less invasive alternative, minimizing tooth reduction compared to SSCs. The SMART Hall technique represents a further evolution, emphasizing atraumatic cavity preparation using hand instruments. It offers advantages like minimal or no tooth reduction, minimized discomfort, improved patient cooperation, shorter treatment times, and cost-effectiveness. Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) emerges as a promising non-invasive approach for managing dental caries in primary teeth, though it may cause temporary tooth discoloration. However, comparative evaluation with traditional SSC restorations remains limited. To address this gap, a randomized clinical trial will evaluate the treatment outcomes of the SMART Hall technique versus conventional SSC restoration for managing occluso-proximal carious lesions (ICDAS CODE 3/4/5) in primary molars of young patients. Children aged 3 to 9 years requiring restorations will be included, assessing clinical outcomes, treatment time duration, and radiographical outcomes of both techniques at specific follow-up intervals of 3 months \& 6 months. This split mouth study will explore Clinical outcomes, radiographical outcomes, treatment time duration, and patient's pain perception with the chosen treatment modality. The findings will provide insights into the effectiveness and feasibility of the SMART Hall technique compared to the traditional SSC approach, informing evidence-based decision-making in pediatric dentistry and influencing treatment recommendations for preserving the health and function of primary molars in young children.

Extraction of the Compromised First Permanent Molars
Compromised first permanent molars (FPM), whether diagnosed with severe molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH), irreversible pulpities, or necrosis, require frequent re-treatment consequently entering the restorative cycle, which leads to their inevitable extraction and implant placement. Extraction of compromised first permanent molars in 8-10-year-old children allows the mesial migration of the second permanent molars during their eruption, thereby favoring spontaneous space closure as a permanent solution.

Effect of Er,Cr:YSGG Sub-Ablative Laser Irradiation on Fissure Caries Prevention in Permanent Molars
Background: Subjecting human dental enamel to sub-ablative laser has been suggested as a novel way of caries prevention. However, further studies are needed to establish its use as a routine clinical procedure for caries prevention. The aim of this study: This study aims to evaluate the effect of Er,Cr:YSGG subablative laser irradiation on caries resistance of occlusal fissures of permanent molars. Materials and methods: In-vivo study, a split mouth randomized controlled trial with sixty patients having two fully erupted bilateral first permanent molars (ICDAS-II score 0,1 or 2). The pits and fissures will be subjected to sub-ablative power of Er,Cr:YSGG Laser (Group 1, n=90) and will be compared with fluoride varnish application on the first permanent molars in the same arch(Group 2,n=90). DIAGNOdentTM readings and changes in ICDAS-II score will be assessed at base line and at 3,6,9 and 12 months follow-up.

Artificial Intellegence Rivals Digital Bitewing in Detect Secondary Caries
This study uses digital bitewing radiography as a standard for diagnosing proximal secondary caries. Patients will undergo imaging with a parallel technique and fixed settings to ensure high-quality, consistent images. Radiographs are interpreted by experienced dental professionals to maintain diagnostic accuracy. Machine learning models YOLO and Mask-RCNN will analyze these images in three phases: pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical. A dataset of 322 labeled images, annotated by experts, is used to train these models. Data augmentation methods enhance model performance, and accuracy is assessed against radiographic results to confirm reliability.

Oral Health Education and Message Framing Effect on Oral Health Status of Refugees in Egypt
Refugees, facing forced displacement and often exposed to traumatic experiences, represent a vulnerable population with unique healthcare needs. Oral health is considered a prominent factor that contributes to quality of life. Therefore, this study aim at assessing the effect of message framing on enhancing oral health practices in a group of refugees in Alexandria, Egypt. A three-arm cluster randomized controlled clinical trial will compare a gain-framed mobile text messages group, a loss-framed mobile text messages group, and a control group. The primary outcome is the improvement in oral health practices measured by changes in dental plaque and secondary outcome is to assess change in oral health-related quality of life. In addition, oral health knowledge, attitudes, and practices of refugees will be assessed.

Caries Prevalence, Experience and Risk Related Factors Among Early Middle-aged Patients Attending Cairo University
Dental caries, a widespread oral health issue, results from a complex interplay of factors including behavior, hygiene, diet, and socio-demographic aspects. While preventive measures are available, it remains prevalent globally, affecting numerous teeth per individual. Improved oral hygiene practices and increased awareness have led to a reduction in caries prevalence. However, rising sugar consumption exceeds dietary guidelines, contributing to the problem. Despite limited epidemiological studies in Egypt, addressing individual-level factors is crucial. Surveillance of oral health in the early middle age group is standard, allowing decision-makers to assess the impact of caries and oral health care provision. Stratifying data by age, geography, and gender aids in understanding prevalence and planning effective prevention strategies. CARDEC-PEL: Comparison of Two Methods of Caries Risk Assessment in Children
The aim of the study was to compare dental caries treatment and follow-up based on an elaborate and individualized assessment of caries risk in children, to a simpler risk assessment strategy by means of a double-blind randomized clinical trial of two years monitoring. Participants will be children from 7 to 11 years old, who pass through the screening of the Children's Clinic of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Federal University of Pelotas and fulfill the inclusion criteria. A randomized, stratified sample of approximately 250 children will be included in the study, one group will be composed of children undergoing dental caries-related treatment and maintenance, guided by an individualized and multivariate risk assessment, and another group of children treated based on dental caries experience alone in the deciduous and / or permanent dentition. Recruitment will begin at the beginning of 2019, and participants will be followed up for 24 months. Parents will respond to an anamnesis, 24-hour dietary recall, food frequency questionnaire, and oral and general health-related quality of life questionnaire, children will undergo a clinical examination to assess caries, according to the International Caries Detection and Assessment System (ICDAS) in its simplified form and evaluation of caries activity. Dental treatments and return intervals will be designated according to the individual risk of the patient detected in the initial approach according to the group. The study evaluations consist of baseline, 12 months and 24 months, data will be transferred to spreadsheets after the different phases of the study. Primary outcomes (number of dental surfaces requiring operative intervention) and secondary outcomes will be analyzed by Student's t test, quality of life and quality of life related to oral health, will be assessed at the beginning of the study and at the end of treatment, and compared between the groups.
