The Florida ASCENT Study

The goal of this clinical trial is to adapt, implement, and evaluate MyCarePulse and ASCENT patient navigator to overcome barriers to care among patients with cancer. The main hypotheses it aims to test are: * At the patient level, the intervention will result in higher levels of food security, self- efficacy for dietary behaviors, and higher diet quality than standard care. * At the provider level, the intervention will be feasible, acceptable, appropriate, and able to enhance individualized care for patient wellness. Researchers will compare cancer patients receiving the MyCarePulse and ASCENT patient navigator intervention to those receiving standard care, to see if the intervention improves food security, self-efficacy, and diet quality. Phase 1 Patient Participants will: * Complete the ASCENT Questionnaire, which is comprised of the following: * U.S. Food Security Survey Module (U.S. FSSM) * Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS-29) * Automated Self-Administered 24-Hour (ASA24®) Dietary Assessment Tool * Be assessed using the Veggie Meter instrument * Participate in two semi-structured interviews Provider Participants will: •Participate in one semi-structured interview Phase 2 Patient Participants will: * Participate in ASCENT patient navigator screenings and consultations * Complete the ASCENT Questionnaire, which comprises the U.S. FSSM, PROMIS-29, and ASA24®

Identifying Changes in Food Behaviors Associated With Beginning GLP-1 Medication

In recent years, GLP-1 medications have become a widely employed approach by physicians to address weight concerns in patients and lead to weight loss. Little is known, however, about how these medications may alter an individual's attitude towards food, food reactivity, or the specific types and amounts of foods an individual will choose. The purpose of this study is to observe the changes an individual experiences in their relationship and reaction to food and in their food selection prior to or within the first two weeks of taking GLP-1 medication to after three months on the medication. The researchers of this study believe that an understanding of such changes can inform questions seeking to ensure maintenance of appropriate nutrient balance within individuals on weight loss medications.

Using Nudge Strategies to Promote Healthier Beverage Intake Among College Students

The primary objective of this study is to investigate whether three nudging interventions would affect the beverage selection and consumption behaviors of Chinese university students. These interventions encompass providing information on the sugar content of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs), disseminating harmful information about SSBs, and showcasing the social norm that the majority of students opt for mineral water. Through a single-factor between-subjects experiment, we aim to examine the impact of these nudge interventions on the proportion of students choosing sugary drinks versus mineral water, thereby assessing their effectiveness in guiding healthier beverage choices.

The aim of this study is to investigate (1) the user experiences and usability of the nutrition apps (the Finnish Nutrition Navigator and the Finnish Nutrition Path) in occupational health care from the perspective of both professionals and customers, (2) the impact on diet, eating behavior, perceived well-being (perceived state of health, quality of life, work and functional ability) and anthropometric indicators compared to treatment as usual, and (3) cost-effectiveness of using the nutrition apps.

Increasing Food Literacy in Preschoolers to Reduce Obesity Risk

The goal of this clinical trial is to examine the effects of a nutrition education program on preschool children's food literacy and food acceptance, and to examine the added influence of a healthy eating curriculum and parent education on children's food knowledge and healthful food choices. The project will be evaluated with 450 children ages 3 to 5 years in center-based childcare programs serving predominantly Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)-eligible families in Pennsylvania. Outcomes for children who receive the added healthy eating curriculum will be compared to children in classrooms that only receive the nutrition education program.

University At Buffalo Campus Veggie Van Mobile Market

The goal of this observational study is to develop an adaptable mobile produce market model to be used on college campuses to increase college students' access to fresh fruits and vegetables. Food insecurity on college campuses threatens academic success and student well-being, and affects first generation, lower-income, and racial/ethnic minority students at higher rates. This research will include a pilot campus mobile market operated on the University at Buffalo campus. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1.) What makes it hard for students to eat healthy foods on the University at Buffalo campus, 2.) How does a mobile market need to operate on a college campus to best reach students, and 3.) What is the relationship between mobile market use and changes in how many fruits and vegetables students eat, students' ability to consistently eat foods that promote health and well-being, and participation in the Special Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Sleep and Metabolism

The goal of this study is to uncover sleep and circadian mechanisms contributing to adverse metabolic health. The protocol is a 21 day (7 outpatient days, 14 inpatient days) mechanistic randomized-crossover study designed to identify the impact of chronic sleep restriction and circadian timing, independently and in combination on energy metabolism and identify the independent and combined effects on glucose tolerance.
